As title says. I only know Astro boy by name and his iconic design. Never watched it and Idk what's the story is about at all.
Also another question. Did those 8 episodes cover the entire manga or there will be another season?

I have never watched astroboy, but I still enjoyed this very much and didn't feel confused at things

And yes, this does cover the entire manga

You don't have to know anything about Astro Boy before watching this. Also, it covers the entire manga in 8 hour-long episodes so you need not to worry about another season.

I recently finished watching it, and I only knew some characters from the Astro Boy series beforehand, but that didn't bother me in my viewing experience. All the characters get their moment to shine, and their relationships with each other are pretty clear in the series, personally. Just know that Astro boy is called "Atom" in japanese, so you don't get confused about that.

no you dont need to. Pluto is like a reboot of Astro Boy, not a sequel or a spin off.

The anime covered the entire manga, 8 episodes of 1 hour.

Just read the synopsis, maybe watch one episode, that would be enough

I highly recommend to read at least the The Greatest Robot on Earth, on which this reinterpretation is based on. It's not also a decent story, but quite fun due to many aha moments you'll witness along the way.

MAL is far from being my primary site for literature, which is why I’ve stopped doing single-chapter updates. Baka-Updates and two French sites are far superior—more detailed, complete, and less restrictive. They're perfect for manga, light novel, and book collectors like me, making the process much less stressful and tiring. -g-
