| Well October's over and as promised I'm back to catch up with a 40 year weekly first-time watch of this series. First up, we're still in the Caramel Man 004 saga, and I couldn't help but find it rather coincidental that my first episode back after a month-long hiatus had new sound effects during the op and an entirely new ed. I really didn't plan it that way. The ed is fine, but Arale and Caramel Man 004 kinda look creepy to me in those outfits. Maybe it's the giant heads, but there's something uncanny valley going on, I dunno. The first musical cue in it also reminded me of a certain Lupin III ending theme, but I forget which series it was from specifically so I'll leave it at that. I wanna say it was an early one. And maybe it was the harmonica that made me think of it. Specifically in regards to the events of this episode I remember more or less everything except the karuta battle from the manga. It might have been in it, but if so I've already forgotten, which considering I read this material just earlier this year for the first time ever...isn't a great sign lol. I love whenever the manga gets advertised in the anime, so basing the hanafuda cards off of it was pretty funny. I dunno who I should feel worse for though, Senbei cheating against kids or Mashirito out in the cold waiting for his creation to return. Eh, they're both morons. |
