| Why didn't this have a discussion until now? It's quite decent, though I can't be a good judge since this is my first time watching a Doraemon movie (aside from Stand By Me). It was really cool seeing a kind of sky utopia which also became an underwater palace, thus basically combining different mythological wonders. |
| Really solid movie overall and a lot better than many Doraemon movies. The stand out this time was definitely Sonya whose lonely life as a robot makes his payoff and sacrifice at the end really compelling. Whilst the "twists" with Paradapia were extremely obvious, Doctor Ray was still an enjoyable albeit simple villain. As a means to explore the theme of being oneself and not conforming to another's idea of perfect I thought the story was just compelling enough and as a whole when taken as a children's movie I really don't have too many complaints. |
