I watched this yesterday at the Japanese Film Festival in Melbourne and I thought it was a really beautiful and heartwarming film. I liked the focus on drama and the tensions between the two kingdoms as it allowed for lots of interesting characters to be included and for there to be a constant sense of stakes at all times. The balance of serious subjects along with a lot of comedy also ensured the movie never got dull (and there were some seriously funny jokes like the Khan's obsession with men and the reveal of the dog and the cat at the beginning). I was a little surprised that there wasn't more of a focus on the romance as prior to watching I assumed that was what the film would mostly be about, but if anything it just made their scenes together all the more impactful. The message with Sarah about acceptance and belonging was another nice inclusion. Evan Call as usual provided a stellar score which elevated every scene - I honestly think he might be my favourite composer in anime at the moment. Although a few characters were probably a little underdeveloped, I had a genuinely great time watching this. Madhouse proved once again that they really never miss with their movies. 8/10

A beautiful story, a charming drama with light comedy, and incredibly well-produced. The film may lack depth in some aspects, but overall, it's a movie that captivates the soul.

This anime is so good and everyone need to know! It's mixed of heartwarming, romance, and character development is so good! There is a little bit misundertanding but all have done great, and quite satisfied with the ending of the story. I more recommend it if you romance and slice of life genre enjoyer,and like an heartwarming story

But at least everyone need to know :D
