ButaLiver is one of the well received Light Novels thanks to the illustrator Toosaka Asagi, who's responsible for many LNs and official Hololive designs like Aizawa Ema or Ceres Fauna. Peak humor from Buta-san's monologue/dialogues and Jess, a lonely girl who will find her happiness through the companion, Mr Pig.

Dark is not the right term for this story. It does go the Made in Abyss -like story, but mostly it's the humor from panties to breats every 3rd line and can get annoying, but overall the journey contains cuteness and interesting twists, and ecchi of course.
