| The middle brother of Mirai and Nana appears! At first, I correctly thought the mystery person is male based on their built, but then assumed was female due to their eyelashes. Until I reread the letter, now being certain it's their brother. Mirai and Nana's male family member who I assume is their brother, deduces that Kaya is the "8th priestess", due to her name meaning eight. Which makes me question Mirai, Kaya's mother. If she seems to have separated from her family, to the point of hiding her daughter to her own mother, why would she make Kaya's name a symbolism of her clan. Even though she seems very sweet and kind, the fact that her own mother believes she's dead, is afraid of her, and that Mirai's children have powers, with Kaya as a psychic and her baby as a spectre... I wonder if Mirai is good. What if she's planning an ominous dark power with them. Anyway. Looking back at the last chapter, where Nana is holding a picture of the past with herself, Mirai and mystery person, her brother, there's a page with covered writing behind it. Along the lines of "Each generation's- shall inherit the role of- Those who are born male- into the Hirumori Clan- are not priestess- maintain their role- --- are not priestess." Which means that males (the brother) of the Hirumori Clan don't have the role of priestess, which we don't know what it entails, but I think they continue another role of aiding thee priestess. Which is why he's looking for Kaya. To serve her, I guess. Now, a random thought, looking back on Granny Mutsu's reaction to Kaya. I originally assumed Nana was dead based on her reaction, and that whatever family related split personality Kaya has is the one who killed her. But on the contrary, none of her children that we know of are dead. Nana seems unaffected to how Granny Mutsu, Mirai and Nana's mother (Kaya's grandmother) made it sound like the split personality hurt her. But instead she believes that Mirai is dead, due to Kaya's birth, claiming that she's dangerous. Anyway. Back to the mysterious middle brother. Like Kaya, he seems to have incredible psychic power, and I think is interested in serving or overtaking Kaya as priestess, but for what reason... What is the important role of the priestess of the Hirumori Clan, which Mirai separated Kaya from, by never letting her mother meet Kaya. What is the relationship with Mirai and her mother... I can't explain how, but I keep thinking back on my original misconception of Chapter 15 when Mutsu met Kaya. I feel like the brother somehow implemented himself into Kaya, and I think he wants to literally take over her body. Except that's probably totally wrong, because his reaction feels like he's seeing her for the first time. So then, who the hell is Kaya's split personality... Someone related to Granny Mutsu? Her husband? A past lover, stalker, some kind of hater who she thinks killed Mirai and could kill Nana. Fascinating perplexing continued mystery. Love it. |
