| "I've... Never seen someone jealous of fireworks before." Another cute af chapter. A lot more subtle character progressions. Tatsuhiko and Nico are just so cute af together, and the manga's cinematic presentation in the eyes of our male MC feels exactly like we're peering into the mind of a creative at work being with someone whom he doesn't just admire, but feels a genuine connection with. "I want to get to know Nico better. The important and mundane things. Even things that don't matter." We perceive Nico through the eyes of Tatsuhiko from the little anecdotes about her life, her creative process, and all the meaningful conversations they have together. And while she does feel like someone he and we as an audience admire from afar, she's also someone he can feel a genuine connection with, only further established with a simple "Let's hang out again soon." She's not just someone he admires, she's someone he wants to be an equal to, not only from a feeling of "having to catch up to her level", but because of that genuine emotional and creative connection they have, and that common dream that they share, he wants her to succeed. With what little we know of Nico's thought process, I do hope we have more chapters with Nico-focus on them. That peculiar line about being jealous of fireworks; that striving for something more than yourself is a common ideal these two share. You could tell just how much they enjoy each other's company. The story feels grounded in a sense, despite shooting for the stars. It's overall been a really pleasant read. There's been only good things so far, and there's still so much more room for improvement. |
