| "...Tokyo through your eyes is really great." Once again gushing over how I love these two together and how underrated this manga is. Tatsuhiko and Nico, both creatives; bouncing off of each other in mutual discourse, it's an emotional connection just hits different and I feel is hardly explored in romance manga in general. It's a lot more grounded, intimate, and personal, and it's what attracts me to their individual stories (since I am big on the aspect of characters in storytelling.) This chapter in particular was cute af. Their little date as well as more meaningful dialogue between the two; I just love it so much. Oh, and not to mention the top-tier paneling. It's super cinematic. I can already imagine how it would translate into animation if it ever does get an anime adaptation. Hopefully, it gets more attention. There's really something special about this manga. |

| Not particularly discussing this chapter, just wanted a place to gush about how much i'm loving it so far and since this is where i've caught up to, i'm doing it here! There's something special about this manga that resonates with me on a personal level. I can't relate to everything, i've never had a crush on another creative and then actually had the chance to potentially make that a reality (if anything that feels a bit creepy & outlandish) but I completely relate to the feeling of dedicating your life to an art, losing all interest due to outside pressures & not feeling like you have a path in life. I used to do videography & play guitar for years but I would constantly compare myself to peers and content you see online to the point where giving up was the comfortable option. I could be wrong but as a Mangaka himself it feels like Naoki is writing & talking from his own life & i've always liked when media has a real sense of personal experience behind it. The double page spreads and gorgeous art throughout Beat & Motion almost feels like a "fuck y'all, i've made it" mentality, and I love that. Eagerly following this one through to its conclusion! |
