That's what I'm saying. It feels cheap to use such a method that isn't as deep as they made it just to give him some light.

I can think of a few possible reasons:
1. While visiting peiodically may work, it may prove to be inefficient since you know once a month is a drastic change from everyday. THe benefits might not outweigh the downsides, especially if it was so far off from their current planet. You could argue that they should've lived in a planet nearer to her home planet but we really don't know if any of them are hospitable.
2. Who's gonna take care of Kagura and Kamui when Umibozu's away. I mean yeah from when we are watching them Kouka is in no way shape of form to take care of them but before that, when their children are still infants, who would take care of them. It's kind of hard to trust babysitters when they are literally in a planet where crime runs free.
3. Kouka might not want to in the first place. At that point, she had lived for hundreds of years. She was tired of living in that planet. She wanted to be free. Having to return their every time might not be something she wants, not to mention dangerous. Best case scenario for her would be just to live out her life. When Kouka became bedridden, it was a shock because they probably did not expect it to happen that fast.
4. This is kind of a continuation of the 3rd point but she just might not want to be apart from her family. She loves her new family and she might have preferrably wanted to stay with them more instead if haphazardly trying to fix it like what Umibozu wanted. It would have been better if she had cured herself but between betting her life and being with her family, she chose her family.

Personally I think these reasons are solid enough as to why Kouka didn't just travel all around but it depends on how you see it.

But now that I think about it, even if logically it's a stretch, its thematically perfect and not just to make Kamui a villain. Because even after everything, she chose to stay with her family, the exact opposite thing Umibozu and Kamui did. This is what I think makes it work for me, because Kamui kept searching and searching far and wide for greater power, Kouka just stayed there but she showed a more firm and solid strength that Kamui could never beat.

@Jay_Burson-510 I suppose you gave me an answer that was satisfying enough. Just seems cheap when they mentioned Utsuro is the same thing as her; what applied to one doesn't seem to apply to both, in terms of them dying because they aren't on their planet.

(Tried the @ feature, but it doesn't seem to work.)

I definitely agree that Utsuro and Kouka's being the same kind was not fleshed out more or explained clearly. I think the implication we are supposed to take is that they are two different beings at the end with Kouka being a weaker version but yeah it still feels cheap.
Then again, I'm not sure but I think Utsuro returns and stays in Earth often enough (being the leader of Tenshoin Naraku and all) so there's that but having the audience guess the reason instead of explaining it is really what really undermines it for me. I'm betting it was glossed over because they concentrated more on the contrast between the two with one as the most human nonhuman while the other as just devil incarnate but I still wished they went further with it. This is just one of my many reasons why I disliked this season the most. Everything is handled wishy washy without proper care in my opinion. Oh just wait what they'll do to Oboro.

Also I think the @ function worked.

I’m pretty sure the reason is that she didn’t want to go back and Umibozo wanted to respect her wishes. Which is why he went to the ends of the universe trying to find a cure for her. So she could stay with him and the children that she loved so much that she could not bear to part from them. Kamui and Kagura both saw Umibozo as the absent father because they didn’t know he was doing it for the mother.
