That fight scene was super satisfying. Looks like they drastically improved the quality during the fight scene. The episode was quite sad given those people died :/

With how bad the translations are at this point, I didn't recognize that it was a named character (not some random mob) that was dying. The fight was pretty good though. Still, I really hope some good translation team takes up the series.

so i guess they're actually dead. though, i only recognize the girl. the guy i don't recall at all. and the blind guy...of course the idiot lives, albeit handicapped

so mc is a once in a lifetime (since cultivators live for long ass periods of time) type of person? he's now just one of two living golden core cultivators to pass the tribulation?

i've not been a huge fan of this prolonged war arc. i just don't feel like there's much "development" during wars/large battles. but this episode had development. and i always enjoy watching an mc just go HAM on a bunch of fools

I hope now that the war is over they go back to cultivating and not have to fight another war against the upper stream any time soon

Without spoiling too much you can consider his cultivation achievements pretty "rare" or "extremely" rare, but he is not a once in existence sort of cultivator. There will be two extreme shifts in his cultivation that come up far off from now, but don't let the first one bother too much just because of what happens even if it feels like it ruins elements of his cultivation.

His final cultivation in the story is pretty epic, mainly because his particular dao he later begins to pursue is particularly exceptional making his cultivation quite insane (probably only second to Meng Hao in I Shall Seal the Heavens (different novel, same author), same overall universe but very different regions of said universe as this one). The final phase of his cultivation is probably the coolest cultivation moment in the story from when that transition begins up until the final part of the story.

Also note that creature he summons from the other world we've only seen part of is LOL when you find out how ludicrous it actually is (trust me w/e you are imagining after reading this is wrong, the reality is more ridiculous).

Wang Lin, while people often misunderstand the final cultivation of these characters online, has a much more unique cultivation and abilities during the start to near end compared to Bai if you want to see a more "legendary" type figure and it involves a lot more combat and mass scale slaughter. Also same universe. Check the novel Renegade Immortal for his story. It is a more serious story though even for a cultivation novel the relationships are particularly harsh or callous, notably early on. He has some particularly crazy feats throughout the novel even early on compared to Bai that make Bai pale by comparison until the end of the novel where Bai definitely outstrips him due to absurd dao. The most ridiculous feats, abilities, and truly legendary cultivation goes to Meng Hao though in ISSTH (I Shall Seal the Heaven). It is a balance between this story and Renegade Immortal. It starts out rather slow though with the first 90-100 chapters, before he leaves the state he is in, being a bit slower because of his starting point in cultivation but it isn't bad just a bit different initially. It quickly accelerates though and he easily has the most absurd abilities, capability as a character, accomplishments, and legendary cultivation even in the first major realm of cultivation

He also has, by far, the best fight scenes and even more so breakthroughs in cultivation (that is realm transitions) so much so that I don't think there is much room to really even discuss comparing it with the other novels. He also makes Bai and Wang both look quite weak by comparison and fights in more extreme situations and match ups.

Btw, Wang Lin focuses more on what you can consider as seals/arrays where Meng Hao goes Bai's route and does with focus on Alchemy but a less goofy approach and he is more competent there where Bai is more unique/funny with alchemy but less capable.

Be warned if you ever check out ISSTH the manga version is heinously bad compared to the novel and thus got axed.

About that... I'll keep it minor but read at your own risk regardless.

@HagePotPotato
Some questions.
1) Why do the combination of 4 sects aka River Defying Sect moved up the stream?
2) What does the stream signify? Why everyone wants to move UP in the stream? What's in the uppest position?
3) Why are they picking up a fight with SKY RIVER COURT?
4) When the 4 sect patriarchs unitedly announced the emergence of River Defying Sect; a heavenly declaration came to fight Sky River Court. Who was that? Why do others need to follow the order?
5) Why the heck fight at all? Is fighting necessary ? I mean war between 4 sect is over so why peak a new sky river sect to fight again??

@lotus_eater

ha, great questions. i'm kind of with you in that it didn't/doesn't make sense. the 4 sects fighting each other to start with seemed kind of random and unnecessary.

but i'll answer your questions to the best of my knowledge. i haven't read the source material and i don't speak chinese, so my understanding almost certainly has some errors to it

i don't think anything below is a spoiler:

1. when the river defying sect held their unification ceremony, it was interrupted by someone from a sect further upstream. they were told they had to fight (or be killed, i think?). it was kind of random, i agree
2. the stream if the source of their cultivation power. the further upstream, the stronger the "source", the better/faster they can cultivate and the stronger they can become. i believe there is the down stream (where we started), the middle stream, and the upper stream: 3 areas in total
3. this goes back to #1. they aren't really picking a fight. they're basically being forced to fight (that's my understanding). and you learn a little more about why this is happening in the next 10ish episodes (but it doesn't answer all my questions)
4. this is related to #1 and #3
5. same as #1, #3, and #4. the problem for us as viewers is, i don't think the show did a good job at explaining what was going on. the fighting/wars between sects/streams is happening very suddenly without explanation imo.
