After watching this episode, it is now classed as finished.
Lu feigns injury and investigates the Dragon Palace.
I wanted this to go on a lot more episodes, it's that good.
Will now have to wait, hopefully not long.
One of my recent favorites, you should be watching, but won't.

@HagePotPotato Compared to other donghua series, the production value of this series is pretty high. I guess the studio put a lot of effort into it and hopefully they will adapt the whole novel (which ended several years ago).

@destinical I was used to watching small 5~7 min ep donghuas. So, from last part of 2022 to mid of 2023 , I didn't watch any donghua , hoping to binge watch when lots of eps add up.
I'm astonished to see so many donghuas came out meanwhile , now I can hardly catch up.
Back in 2020 or before , you could count in one hand , the no. of good quality donghuas.
Such isn't the case anymore.
I feel withing a few years, donghua will catch up in quality with j-anime. In a small scale obviously.

@lotus_eater The fact is many donghuas have already caught up with j-anime in terms of quality. Some of them are widely loved and considered masterpieces in my country. I have no idea why they got such low scores on MAL. Taken Hua Jianghu as example. An iconic Donghua, a solid 9 according to Chinese fans (it got many domestic awards this year) and people in my country, but only gets 6 on MAL. Our donghua fanbase is no smaller than anime fanbase, with many translated materials (most from weibo). It’s sad to see donghuas dont get the recognition they deserve here. Maybe language is a barrier. Our language is pretty similar to Chinese, so voices and lines from donghuas are just like poems to us. When they get translated in English, I would say that they lost 90% of their poetic nature.

@destinical This Hua Jianghu ? https://myanimelist.net/anime/33305/Hua_Jianghu__Ling_Zhu

Hua Jianghu has many, many prequel,sequels ; according to MAL info.
Although I've marked it as "plan-to-watch" , it feels a bit troublesome to guess where should I start, something like "How should I watch FATE series?" if you know what I mean.

@destinical
I have tried so many times to get people interested in Donghua, with no luck.
I post as much as i can, but only the same people read them.
Shame no one seems interested in at least giving it a try.
Our Minority will go on regardless.

@lotus_eater
They are not all related even though they have similar titles.
The one i gave you does not need prior knowledge to enjoy, unlike some of the others.

@lotus_eater FATE has routes and alternative worlds, so it's hard to figure out where to watch first. But Hua Jianghu is pretty simple. Up to now, the series has six parts. And you should start with this: https://myanimelist.net/anime/33396/Hua_Jianghu__Bu_Liang_Ren

For viewers nowadays, the first two parts will be difficult to enjoy, since they were made in 2015 - the dawn of modern donghua. You can say that they are ugly, and the story has really slow pacing. But starting from part 4, the story keeps getting better and better. Some mind games, especially those from part 6, are at Code Geass level! Even supporting characters are really likeable. And storytelling is genius. You can laugh like crazy at this scene, but then the next few scenes you feel like crying.

@bushman66 I at first was also skeptical about donghuas. My first donghua was Cike Wu Liuqi. It was entertaining. I watched some 5-7 minute donghuas, finding them boring. But then I watched A Will Eternal and it was funny as hell, reminding me of the days watching Konosuba. And I watched Blade of the Guardians, Hua Jianghu, Shixiong A Shixiong,...The quality keeps getting better. Nowadays I only watch donghuas.

I hope to watch more Slide of Life donghuas, but that might be impossible at the moment, as Chinese audience still prefers action movies. Even the studio that created Hua Jianghu suffered from financial pressure and there were times they planned to give up on the series.

Changshou is such a cunning character; He's about to go into tribulations so he doesn't want to be caught by other disciples that escort him. Changshou escapes to find a suitable location to complete the tribulations; He chooses a place that is several thousand miles away from the East Sea and the Duxian peaks.

We find out that Ao Yi is sick of the dragon cultivation and wants to cultivate with a human master. He also finds a secret place to cultivate but unknowingly meets with Changshou in disguise, even Changshou recognizes Ao Yi.

He finds out that Ao Yi has a talisman that sticks to whoever eliminates him so Changshou decides to 'washing machine' him to clear all traces of his talisman and formations from Ao Yi. Ao Yi is mentally scarred from that washing machine lol

Changshou goes through the tribulation finally and uses all the tricks in the book to prevent being stricken by the lightning. I like how his talisman also bow down with incense when showing sincerity.

So far the series has been all over the place, it starts very abrupt and the pacing is fast leaving little to no time to comprehend what's going on sometimes. The characters are enjoyable and the chibi comedy helps with character development a lot. I don't like how Changshou is so hell bent on avoiding attention but it seems he does things with logic.
