Continuity error?

Konosuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World! (light novel)

Good first episode, but wanted to clear something up so things make sense for me. In this episode, Megumin and Yun Yun met each other for the first time, but in the movie they were friends at a young age. When they really young (likely in grade school), they were captured by monsters and Yun Yun put her points into intermediate magic to save them and let Megumin continue saving her points for explosion magic. This doesn't exactly add up I think... Or maybe I'm missing something?

This show is a prequel, right? Thanks for any help and info.

Did they explicitly say in the movie that they were really young? Yunyun learning intermediate magic hasn't happened yet.

I actually just went back to the movie and now feel really stupid. Megumin says that she was saving up and was made fun of while at school. Megumin's little sister Komekko was being attacked by monsters and Yun Yun was the bigger person and put her points into intermediate magic to save Komekko so Megumin could keep saving points.

Thanks for inspiring me to go back. I should've checked before I posted this 😅

It’s a movie it’s not necessarily true to the LN

Just wait for it..... There are no continuity errors that I´m aware of.
 
The movie covers the events of the main LN Volume 5, with some changes (just like the series).

I'd recommend it before, just because it came out before. It honestly doesn't really matter, but the movie is hilarious so you should just watch it soon haha.

Good thing I read this. I had no idea that this was a prequel series to something else. Nothing bad about
being able to move something from Watching to Dropped.

You're right in being perplexed. When Chomusuke was first introduced both the anime and the LNs make it seem like Megumin had just found him, but neither goes into much detail. It's only here that they explain its backstory. My personal guess is that it wasn't meant to be a character from the past at first, but then the author changed his mind.

Glad to hear that. Everything else made sense to me except for the cat.

Wait, by the 2nd season or movie, Megumin already used her points in top level EXPUROSION magic, or is she still saving it?
