Makoto Tamagawa (Tensai Ouji no Akaji Kokka Saisei Jutsu) is directing the television anime at Yokohama Animation Lab and Cloud Hearts. Keiichirou Oochi (5-toubun no Hanayome) is handling the series composition. Guonian Wang (Prince of Stride: Alternative) is designing the characters. The anime adapts Broccoli Lion's fantasy novel, which began on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in October 2015. Micro Magazine Publishing acquired and began publishing the novel under its GC Novels imprint in August 2016, with illustrations by sime. The tenth volume was shipped in January 2022. The series has over 2.5 million cumulative copies in circulation. Hiiro Akikaze began drawing a manga adaptation in Kodansha's Suiyoubi no Sirius manga service in January 2017. Kodansha shipped the 11th volume on March 9. J-Novel Club licensed the novel in English for digital publication in October 2020. The tenth volume went on sale in December 2022.
