It's great to have more insight and focus on the pre-production phase. Also the roles aren't exactly set in stone yet so anything can happen.

China topping the list of biggest film market isn't a surprise but I find it quite hard to believe how Japan's at the third place when there's India with such MASSIVE population.

TIL mammonism is a thing.

Apparently on doing some research, India had the most amount of tickets sold overall surpassing that of China and the US in 2022, even in 2021 India was 3rd behind China and US so the data in this chapter must be long invalid

Came to post exactly this. India has more screens and admissions. Japan has a strong film scene but I doubt it is beating India.

Well now I have further info on how anime productions are made I guess, committee production teams are basically a bunch of company investing in the show.

We got an introduction to the pre-production phase of Gotanda's movie. This once again shows how hard it is to achieve success in the entertainment world, and how a huge number of people must be satisfied for a movie to be given the green light.

“There are only two types of people in the world--those who became otaku and those who didn't--and the latter just can't understand what the former is so excited about."--Ono Norihiro

Kind of an info dump chapter but interesting nonetheless. I wonder if the mangaka will discuss the production of an anime.

Wahaw, quite the info being thrown at us. Now that's how you truly make a movie with all that knowledge.
