Thoughts on the VA change halfway through the season

Well, we all know the show is delayed right now but I've been watching and re-watching the already-aired episodes in the meantime. And I have some thoughts on the recasting of Anos-sama's seiyuu now that this cour is at is halfway point.

Umehara Yuuichirou has a great voice, don't get me wrong, but I think it's just not the right fit for Anos. He is missing the passion and humor in his delivery that Suzuki Tatsuhisa had. He really made the character and it just doesn't feel the same with the new VA. No hate to him personally, but it's a miscast, in my opinion. Suzuki was just perfect with the more sarcastic and menacing tone. He WAS Anos.

What do you guys think about the VA change? Does it really make a difference for you when watching the show? For me, it definitely does and can feel a bit jarring.

Season One's VA is hard to beat

I think it's a passable recast, sounds similar enough. Two of my friends didn't even know it was a different VA until I told them about the cheating scandal.

I only hope the English translation has the same person

Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

Wouldn't know, Anos' English VA is too good to pass up on so I watched that instead. Took them long enough to start the dub of season 2 though lol.

At first, before this season started airing, I was worried in the exact same way you are. And I still think the S1 VA was legitimately PERFECT and he truly WAS Anos. Umehara is definitely a good VA, but I always saw him cast as the cool and collected type anime guy, which his voice fits perfectly.

But, upon the release of the new season, I was glad that my worries were for nothing. I personally think he's doing a GREAT job taking over, still feeling that sarcasm and cockyness we love so much about Anos.

Of course, as I said, you can't beat the original, but this is REALLY solid all things considered, so I've been enjoying the new season with my friend quite a bit.

So for me it's not that different I watched season 1 directly from dub and it made me like the series so much, The anime was so good and the English voice of Anos was simply sooo good Of course I watched it in sub afterwards again and liked it a lot too little sad that VA got changed but I like the new VA of Anos too his voice suits for it no doubt also hoping the new episodes start broadcasting soon.

I don't find anything wrong with the new va Japanese for misfit of demon king academy it's his own fault for doing really stupid it's common sense if you cheat the people in charge of the studio and the anime will automatically fire you they don't want that shame and scandal around the studio and anime to hurt there reputation and lose money stupid move if being really honest cost himself alot of money and tanked his career

I think the new one isn't bad but the previous voice actor fit the series more because It sounded more parody-like and that's the point of the anime so yeah i prefer the old one but i don't think the new one is bad.

i like the new VA in projects that suits his monotonous voice and stoic roles like goblin slayer and cautious hero, not charismatic chads like anos. i'd prefer no season 2 than something so void of what made the first season so great coz let's be honest...you don't watch it for the plot and they made the most exciting part boring. unforgivable.
