this series never went wrong......just some people couldn't take the fact that it went into BATTLE MODE after ep 12

I guess it's a good combo First 12 eps (MYSTERY, THRILL, SUSPENSE) and the Later 12 eps (BATTLE MODE)

Not saying it’s bad necessarily but the ending legitimately is what made it lose a point and causing it to go to a 9/10 for me. I thoroughly enjoyed the show but there’s a certain point where it starts to feel like the writers were losing it and had to suddenly write a happy ending full of deus ex machina because someone higher up said make it happen. Between the third Shide, the second Ushio, and the shotgun with a “hacking bullet” that magically pulls itself closer to Shin because Ushio screamed loud enough; things went a bit too far.

The issue with the ending is that it's perfectly average. In standard time travel show fashion they just go back in time and remove the problem overall.

It also ignores butterfly effect, and since many people including me are believers in it, that might be frustrating

The whole show was okayish because it was just Steins;Gate and Shiki combined together to make a slightly different plot. Not much unique or something.

the end was slightly worse than the start, the only problem i had with it was they kept introducing new powers for the shadows right till the end. but if ur talking abt the final episode, then yeah, there was no better way to end it

For a lot of people (including me) bringing back dead characters can feel very unsatisfactory and make their deaths feel pointless, however I like the ending in summertime render because it goes beyond them just coming back, it’s a world without Hiruko and you get to see and explore it in an episode of this small town we got intimately familiar with, it’s so cool to me

I don’t know if I would say the ending is perfect, overall the show was amazing but I feel like the happy ending was a bit forced and kind of took away any tension that the show had been building up with the fact that the distance he could go back in time was progressively getting shorter. That being said I can understand why people would appreciate the happy ending cause it’s the payoff, I just wish it was possible to do that without losing the tension that had been built up.

i think the last ep was like when you have a lot to things to do and you are very busy with those things and out of nowhere all the problems dissaper

i did really like the ending but i still think according to show summertime rendering was, the best way to end will to have atleast 1 character death before end instead of total happy end like fmab

So I just finished watching the anime and honestly the last episode + back half of episode 24 really broke my immersion. Shadow Ushio ‘erasing’ whale Hiruko 3 centuries prior would drastically alter the entire history of the island. It doesn’t feel like the ‘butterfly effect’ that should result from this was taken into account (e.g. Karikiri and Hishigata families would no longer have their original reason for branching off or Shinpei’s parents being alive would mean his life trajectory would substantially change) unless we’re supposed to assume that Shadow Ushio’s ‘time travelling chicanery’ somehow mitigated it to the point where almost everyone ended up with similar-esque lives in this new world (with obvious exceptions like reincarnated Haine and Ryuunosuke of course) + the layout and customs of the island were also seemingly mostly similar despite Hiruko/Haine worship becoming a large part of the Island’s culture in the ‘initial’ world.

I guess it’s cool that some people were able to get satisfaction out of this ending, but I personally can’t. I definitely didn’t feel like it was ‘earned’ compared to something like say Steins;Gate’s ending.

It's alright if you're into that prepubescent Disney-esque fairy tale ending.

From what I remember the ending felt pretty bland; and it's not solely the fault of the ending either. The story just plateaued midway once the mystery was spelled out and when the plot resigned what's his name to being the final punching bag of a villain. Plus you know, all the ass pull powers that came outta nowhere.

nah it was too "perfect" for what the series was. there was so much buildup, drama and pain and in the end they decided on the easy fix like??? it feels like i wasted my time watching nothing. i can understand the ending but it's still a cheap trick because we all know the alternative would have been depressing (but way better!!)

there really was no need for an epilogue but this show leaves NOTHING up to the imagination, literally every single thing must be spelled out in excruciating detail. I predicted early on that every problem would be magically reset back to normal and I was right. Honestly I half expected to see the main villain alive again, happily playing videogames at the shrine.

Nah... Great anime with a meh ending.

In typical anime fashion the last bunch of episodes diverged into an amalgamation of plotholes and nonsense. It's like they can't figure a way to get out of this mould. Its like they feel forced to end everything with some super-duper ending fight and a vane, forced, drama. They cant get over the dragon ball syndrome... Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood, Kill la Kill, Tengen Toppa,... Always the same stupid sunt in the end were they think they raise the stakes or something but instead ruin all semblance of the coherence they built previously...

Why make it a world ending event? Whats with all those dumb powerups? They seriously keep bs-ing us with the power of friendship and love? Why mix the two time travel paradoxes? You either have inmovable parallel timelines or one changin timeline. Sure, an author can write the rules of his universe but they have to follow some logic. The problem is not that its unscientific or anything. The two time travel theories make no sense together. And that world ending power Shide was supposed to get... Holy cow. Its like its impossible to keep their feet on the ground... The tone change from supernatural to sci-fy fantasy was another misshit for these last bunch of episodes... The origins of Hiruko feeled so forced. How would they know that she's some mimicking alien creature? She told them? Why would she? From the start she showed no empathy to humans. She erased the first one she copied. And even if Shide somehow managed to extract that info from her. Why would he tell anyone else?

Totally ruined the internal logic of the show.

In the end it doesnt matter that much since the characters and their interactions are the best part of the show. It's a great anime in that regard. Quite unique all of them and kept me glued to the screen. The author is still quite young though and maybe he can reward us with something more solid next time.

For me, the ending was beautiful and perfect. I don't know what the problem is with other people, perhaps that's where subjectivity comes in, but somehow I pity these people who aren't able to get a satisfactory feeling out of the ending.

I mean, I'm not hating on you guys or anything. I just feel sad that you guys weren't able to feel the satisfaction I did, when we literally watched the same show. I just finished the marathon, and I'm literally high on positive feelings right now. Wish you guys felt the same. Oh well.

Sometimes, I just want to watch a show, not overthink and analyze it and forget that the show is just fiction in the first place. The show had ups and downs, action, mystery, some semblance of a power system for those who like that, a bit of romance, and a happy ending. That's perfect - in my opinion of course.

I'm not a critic though. It's very easy to get a 10/10 from me, as long as I genuinely enjoyed my time watching a show.

In my case, it isn't even the ending. In my eyes the show fell apart long before we were even close to the end. And the reason for that is simply cuz first few episodes set such a high standard that the rest of the show just could not keep up with. At some point I started to count how many episodes were left cuz it was getting really boring and honestly, way too predictable for me to be invested in the show when I already knew what was going to happen.

It tied up everything perfectly. I agree that the battle turn from the second half might have lessened the hype, but it was all done well within the limits the plot and lore it set for itself. I honestly think that this is a show that brought its premise to full potential, created interesting workarounds and plot twists utilizing all its characters well and had the best possible ending. Ushio was way too overpowered, but it wasn't like she hadn't shown any weaknesses either. While the very happy conclusion where mostly everyone got what their wanted might make some people unhappy, I feel like it's deserved. The little monologue Shinpei had during the festival about feeling happy but somehow also pained and lonely really sums up the feelings the show let me feel at the end, and I kind of... like that? It's a story that definitely left me with stuff to process and wasn't just mindless or cheap.
