Wasn't Jun and the guy beside him eliminated? How was he (the guy beside Jun) allowed to throw the ball and defeat the opponent? Idk much about dodgeball, is this even allowed in the game?

There are many types of dodge ball, but there are some in which the eliminated players go to the other side of the rival team and can still eliminate other players.

The sports field is divided into four parts. When they are eliminated the students goes to the back of the opponents. So they can still try to hit the enemies, but if everybody is eliminated where they started (so where Tomo was) they would lose. So basically you have to be careful in the front and on the back too, if you are still in the game.
So the sports field looked like/was divided like this:
eliminated Tomo classmates / enemies who are still in game / Tomo classmates who are still in game / eliminated enemies

Idk if it was understandable, I can't explain it better because I don't know much about sport rules and English in this topics, but this is how we were playing it in high school at least. I loved this game, it was fun

As above poster said, in this variation, eliminated players are allowed on the perimeter and can throw any balls that sneak through. It encourages players to move forward and gives incentive for catching the ball instead of just dodging. Only thing that I found weird was direct catches didn't count as outs.

When I played it in school, it worked that the one who was eliminated ended up in the eliminated area which is behind the opponent's area and if they get the ball they can eliminate the opponents and get free. Also if you caught a direct ball, the one who threw it was eliminated.

Let's say it's a unique game where you can make different rules.

I never played dodgeball in my entire life but I remember playing Bully on PS2 and the dodgeball rules is the same. When you get hit, your position change behind the opponent. So the concequences if you won't catch the ball and just dodging, your chance of being hit increase.

When I played, a direct catch was an extra life you could use to save a team player in the eliminated area 😂

The director of the anime is from Niigata Prefecture, so they are playing Chubu Rules Dodgeball.
