I rate the anime as a whole a 6.5/10. The manga is a soft 7. I do like MHA for sentimental reasons as it was the first anime I ever watched, but I just can’t ignore the unnecessary training/tournament arcs in seasons 2 and 5. They are both cannon in the manga, but it felt more like filler. Hence I call those two arcs “canon filler”. I’m exited for the series to wrap up, but I doubt it will go anything over a 7/10.

Personally, I loved season 5 just as much as the first three. It was season 4 that fell off a tiny bit imo. But I don’t really care, people can have their opinions and I’ll have mine.

MHA is insanely popular anyways, and it’s not like lower ratings on MAL will prevent it from getting more seasons. And that’s all that I actually care about.

yeah I tell my friends all the time: my rating reflects my thoughts on the actual qualities of the show. The animation, music, writing, vibes it creates (“atmosphere”) etc. I can be generally unenthusiastic about a show and give it a 7 or 8 because besides the atmosphere it was great (not perfect but high rating deserving). I absolutely love JoJo and MHA some of my favorite series, but from a rating standpoint, I didn’t give them super high ratings across the board (I will admit I don’t take ratings serious at all I only started bothering to rate shows a couple years ago).

the main problem for me in season 5 is the class battle. it doesn't carry anything to the plot despite the lore that it thrived on in the previous season. the action is good but i think 12 episodes of pointless battle is hard to watch. especially with MHA never really letting Class A shine outside of school (they're always overshadowed by other plot-related matters). But the rest of the season is cool, especially with the MVA making the villains more human and we can sympathies with them

the beginning was good but at the ending feel kinda haphazard. I enjoyed the class fight competition. but yes the class fight took long.

bored at work rn so excuse my analysis:
They’ve had their account for about 13 months, and saw 58 shows. That’s just over a show a week, assuming they did experience burnout, they likely watched a good chunk of that very fast then slowed down, so instead of a show a week, it might have been like 40 shows in the first 4-5 months and then a decline, and this picked them up out of their slump. only OP can confirm.

This whole season was boring and the story didn't make any drastic progress until the MVA started & we came to see the new Shiguraki version

Otherwise the tournament arc didn't add too much value to the story except some minor character development of the other kids & a power up for Deku which made this season felt very slow paced

This season had the least amount of high stake fights which made it even more boring than the other seasons

Overall it was bad & even a hardcore MHA fan would agree that this season was pretty bad

for mha i really enjoyed s2 and s6, they are more like slowburns in my opinion with lots of training arc episodes and also some episodes that are unimportant but overall I wouldn’t call it underrated

man yea I liked s5 personally I could see the class a vs b tournament thing as just some light entertainment I just didn't go in expecting too much it was fun, then my villain academia hit and things picked up a lot

but I will admit MVA was also my main problem cause of how they adapted it, the manga version is miles better and managed to make Shigaraki my favourite anime villain rn while I can't say I'd say the same thing if I just experienced MVA through the anime

but either way I'd say my overall enjoyment was at like a 7-8 I'm not sure if it was as terrible as people said tbh.

I had to fight my brain to keep watching season 5. It felt so mind numbingly boring that at one point i stopped watching it because I felt I was wasting my time. Came back and finished it later but it was still underwhelming compared to rest of the series.
I'm not sure if I even want to continue watching MHA after that.

I’m still watching this season because I’m having a hard time getting through it. I was pretty right that the tournament wasn’t gonna bring anything to the show. The characters didn’t seem to evolve in the long and we barely see Class B.
