Pardon me if I miss something, but can anyone explain this? Who was the "Avos Dilhevia" Lay fought if Misa was behind him? Is it really Shin? Why did he disguise as "Avos"?

That will probably be revealed in the next few episodes so just keep watching

Probably shin or that Anos lookalike after they escorted Leno. Misa has apparently Leno or Lenos power within her (I guess the girl with the blurry face is Leno?)
The Anos lookalike is prolly the reason for all this

this show is a mess.. doesn't really explain alot and s2 especially. As i understand it, after 2.000 years the history was rewritten and changed and the true Devil king name was changed for some reason. The real deliv king name is our protagonists.. the other one was the one that people believe to be the real one but is false.
just like we don't really know and have misinformation about the ancient history the same way the name thought to be lost in translations and rumours.. but at last it was someone's evil plan MUAHAHA or something like that

Avos was kanon but then shin and now it is misa who apparently is the mastermind?

Also all that 7 loyal things are again back to avos so the world thing that avos who is the demon lord that later was told to be fake is now the real one

Ngl if that glitch girl will be shin I won’t be surprised

Shin who was the spirit king Lay fought and Lena the girl with amnesia is the great spirit mother Leno obviously and they're both the mom and dad parents of Misa and she was the Avos that did that broadcast telling all the pure blooded demons to kill Anos but why is she doing all thus and why is she evil if she's a Unitarian and fought for mixed hybrids equal rights just like the purebloods and no more discriminating against them. Was she really pretending to be good and was nothing but a two faced lying fake deceiving phony? But why Misa why? Lay is madly in love with you! How could you do that to him?! DX

Ok I will take a try at explaining this but sadly I am not an ln reader so it won't be perfect and even if I did know I will never spoil.

Anyway

So season 1 info to start

Kanon/Lay uses Evansmana to sever Anos and the title demon king of tyranny from each other effectively hiding Anos from Jerga's insane plan to truly kill Anos after he reincarnates.

A new demon lord appears called Avos Dilhevia, Lay assumes the name and acts the role of demon king after his reincarnation.

However at end of season 1 some questions thst are not resolved even though we thought everything was resolved, ie pure speculation on my part.

1. Kanon resurrects after 2000 years but Avos has existed since I guess shortly after Anos dies and 1800 years prior so Kanon can't have created him so who actually did?

2. Six of the seven elders have believed in Avos since around the time listed in question 1 so why if Lay hasn't had a chance to fuse his sources with the seven elders did they believe in Avos Dilhevia?

Now we reach season 2

Where the full story of the fake demon king is explained.

First it is obvious now that Misa is the kid of Shin(Anos righthand man) and great spirit Leno.

Spirits are composed of rumors and stories and if those are forgotten their existence will fade and they will die.

So Leno for some unknown reason has lost a large part of her rumors/stories and ended becoming Lena and is searching for someone, which she it appears knew or deliberately did as she asked Shin to protect the spirits.

Shin as spirit king dresses up as Avos Dilhevia for unknown reasons.

But Leno's condition might be related to Misa as Lay mentioned in the past that half-spirits tend to live very short lives because they have weak rumors/stories and Misa's health is unique.

The other possibility is that somehow Misa was connected to the rumors/stories of demon king Avos Dilhevia also at the cost of Leno and that has served to maintain her existence. However Misa appeared honestly ignorant of her origins so could the attack she received this episode be related to this or has she been lying to everyone.

So Misa is the spirit of the rumors/stories of Avos Dilhevia through unknown means and for some reason she is capable of killing Anos that even the sword forged to kill him couldn't do.

Personally I believe that considering since episode 1 of season 2 people have been after her source she was entirely unaware of her situation.

I also think Anos is behind some of what is happening from what we see during the first episode and he has messed with time before so we know it is not impossible for him and he might be a demon king but the man has a heart of gold, messing with time for your right hand and best friend and driving the gods insane is well something Anos would do.

End of crazy rant that I hope will help.

Everything will be set straight in the next few episodes.

I personally think someone is possessing Misa’s body at this point

Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

Its anime, nothing needs explained becuase it exists outside of your human perception. Just roll with it and enjoy. If your feeling confused about whats going on, next time you pass a person on the street throw them some coin.
