| First of, I wanna state that I do not like them as a couple, but I do like the show. He was not the one that kidnapped her, and to keep up the act that he was one of the bandits, he kept her as his ”wife”. He did not care for her in the beginning but slowly started to like her. He didn’t show it for her safety (so the bandits wouldn’t use her against him). They did share some moments so even his right hand man knew there was something between them. Later on he lied that it was all an act to protect her. Now, is this a great romance show? Not really. She got kidnapped and as you said, liked him only for his appearance. But they do develop a (decent) releationship later on. I personally think he is aggrevating in s2 and s3, but I know not everyone agrees on that. It’s not that bad of a romance, just a bit of a rocky start. But lets adress the elephant in the room. Yes, he does rape her in the manga. The very first night even. That makes the whole thing so infuriating when she actually falls in love with him later on. He is also very manipulating and controlling in the manga, so I would not recommend reading that if you already dislike them as a couple. |
