Ash's design points too much to be related to the alternate timeline of the movies, but who knows, we'll find out next week...

Art style doesn't speak everything about which timeline this'll be set in cause they switch up art styles a lot even in same timelines.
Rn I feel that there's still a fairly decent chance that it'll be in the original timeline.

It's left ambiguous, but he does have the movie cap and the artstyle is a lot more similar to the movies so I would assume it's the movieverse

Ash mentions having caught a Mankey, which didn't happened during the movie but it could've happen after it. In any case there's no place in the main timeline where Ash was travelling alone, with only his Pikachu, with this outfit, in what is seemingly Kanto, so it's not canon to the main anime.

It probably happened off screen because film 20 is a retelling of the Indigo League arc so it's more than possible that he had the Mankey encounter in this timeline as well.

But more than anything, the cap tells us that this is the alternative timeline. Having watched it now, I do wonder though why he got the original cap at the end or if it's purely for fanservice.

I believe this is the one from the three movies, I choose you, Power of us and Secrets of the jungle. Aaand I like to believe deep in my heart that we are still going to get stories from this Ash as movies, so there will be:

1. New Series without Ash
2. Movies also without Ash now
3. Alternate Timeline Movies with this Ash
