Hi,
I've seen posts about these 4 episodes being rushed. I haven't read the manga yet, but after watching it, I feel the same way.

But my main question/problem is:

Is it more detailed in the manga?
Someone please explain

I haven't read the manga, so I can only report how I interpret the ending.
Think of it like, their memories were not erased but rather locked. As they talk to each other about their past, their feelings come back. You may be able to lock up memories but not true love ^^. However, their feelings are strong enough to free the locked up memories.

I know, cheesy af but it's a romance anime so...

Well after they recognize each other they start dating and in the end they commit to sexual interaction as well as the other two inspectors.

And there’s more to what happened after a couple of years or so but it’s not that much more.

yh, I would love to see a continuation, but that is as far as it goes. up to the ending, it was all good. eventhough the ending wasn't explained well, we can assume our own opinions on how their memories comeback. I also didn't read the manga so idk what happened there. but my personal opinion on this would be very complicated, bc brain is smthn which even science has not understood well. but its known that the brain has two parts, conscious and subconscious. subconscious is like a RAM of a mobile or pc/lap which runs temporary files or rather one time use information for brain such as reading something which you will not use in the future frequently. This memory can be easily discarded or rather forgotten. But if you invest this information of what you read in something like an activity frequently, your memory of that information will transfer to the conscious part which is the ROM of your brain. The memory stored here can not be erased entirely, unless a part of your brain is physically severely damaged. so how does this explain how they got their memories back. Well, my theory on that is that the drug that was used to make them forget about the project is similar to amnesia. This disease can be cured by triggering a memory(s). It can be a word, action person anything realted to the memories. also it maybe not in one go. anyway, they remember their school festival partially, but not the person who they spent with. but the word "hanabi" (fireworks) was the trigger they needed to gain the lost memory. so that wraps up my opinion, but it may not entirely be correct bc some parts on brain details was smthn i read some time ago and the other part is just a opinion.

edit + update:
I just read the ending 5 chapters of the manga. the trigger they needed in manga was different to the anime. and it does continue theor relationship further... all the way to bed. but it didn't explain further on how it worked.

I could be wrong but, as I remember, there was someone in the anime who said that the memories cannot be completely erased. There are few quotes from the Anime that are quite memorable which also made the Anime so good for me.

It's been so long since I've completed this Anime, so I might be wrong about that...
I didn't feel like it was rushed or maybe I can't remember, but this Anime is 10/10 for me...

It was quite refreshing and I really enjoyed watching it!!

I dont think it's cheesy at all. We people haven't experienced getting memories erased and then recover them by facing some random events yet so no one can tell.

in this anime erasing memories doesn't means completely remove all test subject related memories from brain but it means remove test subject releted things like mobile strap, the text on chizuru's palm related to kaizaki, etc when kaizaki and hishiro take that drug the drug will not remove all memories from their brains but makes it hazy so they doesn't recognise eachother but after hearing some words releted their Relife experiment for example fireworks appereance and nature their memories started becoming more clear and clear so they succeed in remembering each other. i prepared this theory because in last episode onaya cried and say that "Why hishiro you failed to hide kaizaki releted text from me you must hide it in better place.now i might clean this" after this i think onaya delete kaizaki's chat and mobile contact from phone, removes that text and changes mobile strap location from mobile to hishiro's bag.

this theory is not 100% true but i made it own.i also don't know what they are thinking.

Thanks For Reading.if you like this theory than tell me

The ending offers a closure but what started as a very nice slowburn process soon turned into a sprint to finish the series. The last 4 episodes were very good and finally resumed a pacing that makes sense.

In the manga there's a hint dropped that An and Ryo did a little bit of sabotage and didn't completely erase Arata and Chizuru's memories.
