So is gear 5 in the movie more or less a false or half transformation, as we saw when he did go from snake man to gear 5 it was in black and white so maybe like goku’s false super saiyan it could be like that in a way if that seen was colored it could be different colors. I mean tha movie is pre wano with the knowledge that big mom is still around and chasing the straw hats.
Also does the new type of observation haki shown only go to those of blood relationships as we see Brûlée and Katakuri have a relationship and so does Usopp and Yasopp or maybe that and a relation of being their heroes having Usopp being like his dad and brûlée looking up to katakuri for protecting her

yeah I don't think it was a genuine transformation to gear 5, but I do think it was a semi transformation

Now that I think about it we it could be similar the forcible way of observation and them not having it like luffy using future sight on mihawk, Yasopp maybe doing the same on Usopp but more of a connection

I honestly feel like it was the full Gear 5 but it was shown in a way that doesn’t completely spoil the form. With everything flashing white so you really can’t get a clear view of it

in the movie after the black and white scene you can see luffy in full gear 5 standing next to shanks so I think it was a full transformation

The canon material I see Oda using from the movie is Uta's existence, Shanks' gave the Strawhat to Luffy because he took the blame for Elegia's destruction and the Strawhat was no longer a symbol of peace, and Shanks' Conquerers Haki making Admirals bend the knee. Let's not forget Luffy popped Gear 5 in a "Demonic Dream World" but wasn't 😂🤣🤣😂 ing like Nika does

That’s the thing tho in the movie it does show the color of haki but in that scene his arm has a haki reminiscent of his gear 4, maybe I am reading to far into it but one of the distinct differences in his gear 4 snake man and gear 5 are the features above the head and his height, I mean in gear 5 his hair look like a flame with a clouded swirls eye brows and less eye shadow, while snake man is tall with same hair but longer more eye shadow and regular eyebrows. But in the scene that he goes the supposed gear 4 he stands at equal or similar height as shanks and that seems more like snake man even though his face is clearly gear 5. As far in the manga we’ve seen him go gear 5 against kaido and the new arc but in the new arc it was briefly because he was upset, being said that he can use gear 5 at a lower extent and not go gear 5. And since this movie is before Wano and after whole cake but the entire crew was assembled like how stampede is after whole cake but the crew was split it would only make since that he has awakened to a degree where he looks and gets a slight power up but can’t go full on making this transformation a semi-gear 5
