I haven’t read the manga all the way but my understanding is that the anime actually goes off from the manga starting in season 2. The whole task they complete is anime original (the “other choice” about the drug addiction is actually the task they do in the manga it was a cool nod like “yes we know we’re changing it”) so you should start the manga at volume 5 or 6 (around where the film maker is introduced)

Edit: volumes 1-3 are basically copy+paste btw and in my personal opinion they aren’t worth reading unless you really really want to start from the beginning. They’re pretty much 100% 1:1

They cover everything in the first few volumes at least to my knowledge. Volume 5 or so is where the anime starts diverging and going in a different direction. The drug arc is really long apparently (but also really good) and they probably knew they wouldn’t be able to do it justice in the time they had so they opted for something simpler.

Yeah, they adapted a light novel spin off that covered the other mission instead, though I do wish they just didn't make the season without having the episodes to cover the drug arc because it was really good. Plus from reading the manga, the anime will really need to find a way to cover up some plot holes for later arcs.

At a glance, after the anime it looks like the manga would start at chapter 25.

Probably not, I don't know about sales and such, but I find it hard to believe that they will animate another season of this story. Honestly speaking the ending of the 2nd season being a filler that it is the story of it was bad, and that's saying it mildly, I won't get into the animation part because it is what it is.
