Actually it is the opposite case, like if people liked a show, they ask for more recommendations of the same type. Higurashi is also recommended a few times on this forum, so nothing to worry about.

I mean i did watch the higurashi series way before the release of summer time rendering, even tho i loved higurashi a lot, but summer time rendering handle some plot events very well and even better than higurashi, the characters have awareness of the change every time the series goes on. Probably as the series went on to the festival i had this thought of the ending being similar to higurashi's but it was immediately gone after the next episode as the plot got thicker, this was a lot different again because of how aware the characters are.
