Volume Four, Chapter Five; the nineteenth numbered chapter in total
AKA And Thus The Chase Begins

If this chapter didn't tug a heartstring, then I honestly don't know what will, heh

Maybe it's because I read this chapter whilst listening to a Yuri OST or maybe it really is just the writing quality, but the yuri element definitely felt more front and centre in this chapter, even moreso than the last. Admittedly, it's explored through more abstract means (compared to the majority of yuri works) and appears more platonic than anything, but I still think it's beautifully constructed and developed. First, through Pandæmonium's little ramble on films and how she pictured one with Akari and Menou as the leads and then towards the end of the chapter, where the latter two have a much-needed talk ;-;

The other detail that stood out to me was Flare's SO from many years ago. Some will no doubt call it a cheap metaphor, but personally, I love that Sato chose to introduce the Pure Concept of Light as being that which could bring Flare some small morsel of healing.

Of course, it'd probably be a crime to have this post without mentioning the art at the end of the chapter, featuring a Menou seemingly smiling as herself (rather than as Flarette) to an Akari that she just bestowed a gift headband upon, vowing to chase her as soon as she can :)

Epilogue follows this chapter (I haven't read it yet) and then I'll have to wait ~10 weeks for volume five to release :(

This whole volume was wild! And I loved it, specialy this chapter. I found a really nice touch that the person Flare killed had the Pure Concept of Light, no wonder she is so good at camouflage.

Btw my favorite part was discovering that the Four Major Human Errors didn't lose control, I'm so hyped to discover the truth of the world.
