There was barely any hype to begin with here in the west. They simply did not market it at all outside of Japan and didn't provide any sort of simulcast, the only ones watching it right now are mostly long-time fans who know how to go through the hoops needed to watch this through alternative means and that has already put a massive dent on the show's popularity. I personally have been enjoying it as the huge BRS aficionado I am and also because I prefer the PSP game's story than the one from the 2012 anime which is closer to what we are getting in DAWN FALL but I can see why it isn't resonating with a broader audience, also doesn't help that the CGI isn't in par with what we got 10 years ago, it isn't bad but nothing to write home about so far.

Beside that there was no hype in first place, Disney+ being second Netflix.

1. Fans weren’t super enthralled by the new designs.
2. It’s a Disney plus exclusive.
3.It’s doesn’t English simulcast.
4.It doesn’t have a massive cult following. The most well known piece of BRS is probably the vocaloid song and vocaloid isn’t as prevalent in the western community as it once was.

Long-time BRS fan here, over nine years now. General consensus among us in the subreddits server is this:

1. The character designs were mid. Not many of us were very happy with Empress's look. Personally, I think Strength is the best looking of the three girls and even she doesn't look... great.

2. The CGI is incredibly dated. It really takes you out of the experience with its jank.

3. Smiley and the end of Episode 5 ruined any and all expectations most of us had for the anime going forward. We were repulsed.

Most of all though, we ended up comparing it to every other piece of Black Rock Shooter media. The Game did this setting better, the OVA and Anime had better characters, Innocent Soul told a cohesive story without all of this pointless shock-bait. Etc etc. It's incredibly disappointing. Another thing is, this show wasn't marketed at all in the west. I've seen very few Anitubers cover it, not many news sources, even huke himself isn't covering it much. The same thing happened with the anime's Dub.

Nobody is talking about it. I haven't even seen any YouTubers mentioning it, it's unfortunate since the show's good.
