This is the 3rd Season.
Very Imp. - Watch the S1 and S2 first, Or you will spoil yourself.

P.S. - The animation is a lot better in S3 (idk why people were a bit fussy over it in S1 and S2, I loved it anyway),
Story - Timeline - Character Development - World Building = TopNotch,
(telling you as a LN reader) old content continues to have an impact in even episodes not currently released yet.

I'd the animation better? I hadn't really noticed, it was always fine to me, nothing special but good enough, the only noticeable thing that felt different to other anime was the hair but like, it's fine

Yes, S3 is noticeably better.
S1,S2 was to me like the whole Season had chibi filter on at 10-20% Power.
Which I absolutely loved.
.
Eg. In S3 just look at the Candles - their placement and how it lights up the surrounding, indoors and nighttime, A shot had a close up of a candle in Ep2 If I am correct, it was well detailed with the wick having multiple strings twisting and not just one straight line.
