I really like the concept of a series centered around building houses, so I’m glad after Build King this premise is getting a second chance, hopefully, this series fares better.

It’s like a fantasy version of those home renovation shows, it even has  neat before and after comparison pictures of the house. It’s cool how the methods used to improve living conditions are fantastical versions of real-world things, like how IRL some people use carnivorous plants such as Venus flytraps and Pitcher plants as a form of natural pest control, not too dissimilar to how the Gogelnba in this series are used.

The Magic Tree absorbing moisture from the air is reminiscent of natural methods to dehumidify rooms such as rock salt and baking soda. In Ancient Rome they used a heating system called a Hypocaust, which produced and circulated hot air below the floor of a room, this seemingly also inspired another fantasy series, ASOIAF where hot springs located under Winterfell causes hot water to course through its walls, its also located in a snowy region.

Really like the character designs of Krik and his crew. Dwarfs in fantasy media are often depicted as craftsmen or blacksmiths, so it’s an inspired choice to reimagine them as construction workers or as an architect. The artwork on the whole is great, seeing all these classic fantasy creatures depicted in this cartoony art style really gives this series a storybook vibe. Things like the introduction boxes being drawn as sheets of worn paper and the use of the panel framing technique, using something like tree branches (Chapter 1) as a border instead of the normal lined border also help deliver that vibe.
