I feel we need to change that generalised main charcter setting for most isekai out there.

I agree, most isekais follow the setting where the MC is like equal to or stronger than gods. And also, they have hell lot of harem. But that same setting is what entertains me. I also enjoy serious plots. But i usually prefer goofiness and comedy if its a power fantasy anime. When i first heard of this show and it's author, I was like "Hehe boii!! 😏". When I watched the first episode, I realized, any plot by some horny author can also be made into an awesome show. Really loved how the mc is so chill when it comes to handling his shit.

Also, I recommend, you watch Reincarnated as a slime if you haven't , it's also serious in its own way.

But you do have the big ones like Re:Zero / Slime. And I’ll also include Mushoku Tensei even though I don’t really like the MC. But yeah, I was watching an isekai with my friend yesterday and it was legit a carbon copy of Wise Man’s Grandchild just with the MC looking different.

It’s now an overdone sub genre but there still are goats, and imo SAO (is it isekai?) and Re:Zero will always be great ones.
