Another Gundam anime that depicts religious conflict, previously seen in 00 and Thunderbolt: Bandit Flower.

For Earthnoids, it's taboo to go to Towasanga because it is holy (likely to avoid desecration ) but for Towasangans, it's imperative they return to the planet where humanity originated (a crusade...a reconquest).

It's the religion of SU-Cordism that's maintaining the status quo of Capital Territory having a monopoly on distributing the photon batteries they receive from the "holy land" of Towasanga. They believe this arrangement and creating taboos for certain technologies prevents humanity from repeating the horrors of the Universal Century. There are those who want to break this status quo on both ends of Capital Tower; the Dorette family of Towasanga and Ameria on Earth.

For those who interested, the movie can be watched at Gundaminfo with the previous two movies.

Also, last time I watched the series was a few years ago, but seems like this movie has more new scenes? Cause I don't remember some scenes in tv version.

I'm surprised that after Raraiya is 'healed' she didn't reveal any information to others compared to tv series. Is Tomino have another plan for her?

To be honest, I still don't see how this version is any better than original tv-series. The only good thing was the start of the show which is basically the first movie, but then it just goes downhill. Second movie is full of characters' stupidity and this one is just boring.

Sure, this whole plot about Earthnoids, SU-Cordism and Towasanga is sorta has potential, but Tomino did literally nothing to make it interesting or appealing. Who knows though, may be the last two movies will be an improvement.

Man, that final climactic battle scene was spectacular. It was audio-visual extravaganza. It felt like the final battle of a Macross show. The movie was just revelling in its incomprehensibility at that point: so many factions, so much going on. At that point, you just have to enjoy the ride.

That review was very well written but this movie series gives me headaches. Even this movie, which had better and worse animation than the first two.

I can't help but think Tomino needed someone else to put all his crazy ideas in order. FWIW, I can understand this movie's story better than the anime. I just feel that others 80's anime were less nuts than this one and I don't like how stupid everyone is. But I still have two more movies to go.
