Doga Kobo produced two Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru anime seasons in Fall 2016 and Winter 2018, each running for 12 episodes. Crunchyroll simulcast both seasons with subtitles, while Funimation streamed an English dub. The anime series is based on Nitroplus and DMM Games' online card collectible game, which was released in Japan in January 2015. Game platform Johren released the game in English on April 27.
