Both of those are inspired by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky's novel "Roadside Picnic" published in 1972.
Thus the title "Otherside Picnic".

yeah the author stated themselves in a blog that is Otherside Picnic inspired by roadside picnic.
also i can't believe this has such a fucking low rating, this is a pretty damn interesting series.

the fact that dogshit like myshitacademia and jjk garbage gets 8+ scores while this gets 6 just shows how people complain all the time about anime being generic but in reality just wants the same thing over and over again with plotholes everywhere

out of all the fantasy shit I've seen, post apocalyptic genre is the most interesting and relaxing genre I've ever seen

well because its also kinda super rare lol,
and post apocalyptic manga can vary a LOT, it can go from something like desert punk, to something like blame!

yeah, i wonder what would be like if there's an anime inspired by Fallout New Vegas or any OG Fallout game. It would be cool. Or, fix the Isekai genre and make something that inspired by The Elder Scrolls series

you should check out Tengoku Daimakyou or heavenly delusion,
its a very very unique post apocalyptic manga,
it has lots of unique elements of both sci fi, isolation, supernatral elements and horror,

when I first read it, it kinda gave me a blame! vibe as it starts with a body guard escorting another across the surrface of psudo japan where some catastrophe happened and lovecraftian monsters roam about. and has some paralleles with other sci fi like body swaping and stuff if im going to lightly spoi.

but the vibe was more like that yokohama manga where an android owns a cafe or something, it felt like a slice of life for some reason, despite being a progressive story, like kinos journey kinda.

It also reminds me of the movie Annihilation. Especially episode 4 with the
You're a louse, Roger Smith. - R. Dorothy Wayneright
This is my fight! No Senpai, this is our fight! - Kojou Akatsuki & Yukina Himeragi
