season 1-3: erwin easily
beginning of season 4 up to like chapter 135 or whenever the downturn occurred: eren
overall: erwin
i think eren in that period of time was better than erwin was in seasons 1-3, but the landing was not stuck.

Why would you not include season 4, without that eren is one generic and overall pretty boring character (I mean he starts to change at the end, but that's not very much). And erwin isn't even present in the final season so they have to put all his character development before that. I don't think this is a fair comparison lmao

Eren without a doubt. Even without considering Eren from War for Paradis, he was the best written character in his show beforehand. Not one category goes to Erwin. Eren had better peaks, dynamics, was more complex and had a greater impact on the narrative of the series. Overall, Eren >>> Erwin
