Ignoring the magic part and the theory of in the original there was a research center and they created a medicine for hinamizawa syndrome (C-120) although it is not perfect the effects are notable as long as the bearer has not arrived at LVL5, so they can live normally without worrying about it.

It was Takano's theory, it wasn't proved to be true, Rena blindly believed Takano's theory in Tsumihoroboshi because she was going on with HS. Many Theories of Takano were proved wrong like the queen carrier one. So they can actually travel without any problem. Rena's Dad was also from Hinamizawa but he never got HS, Rena did because she was going through a lot at that time which triggered HS in her.
