I haven't seen the parent series but have watched the movie and I liked it.
So the story is about the parting of two friends (an overly used concept, but I liked this movie.). While watching the movie, I was under the impression that Mizore had romantic feelings toward Nozomi. But after reading posts and reviews on MAL, it seems, according to those familiar with the series, that I was wrong. So please tell me if I'm wrong.

PS: There are posts regarding that can this movie be watched without watching the parent series? Acc to me, it can. Screen time of other characters except the main one is nearly non-existent(which is uncomfortable for some parent story fans). And I didn't find anything confusing about the main character or felt that I was missing smth,

It is shocking to find how many people do not believe they can learn, and how many more believe learning to be difficult.

No matter how someone look at mizore, from below, from above, from right or left, she loved Nozomi and that's what the "MOVIE" shows us. I don't know it's parent story so i can't say much but according to the movie it's clear that she liked nozomi. I had a friend like that as well so tbh it doesn't feel like normal friendship to me.

If you know Banana Fish, people will tell you that Ash and Eiji were "just friends" as well but anyone who has seen more than one episode can tell you that they aren't just friends. So i guess the same can go for Nozomi and Mizore too.

Or maybe the movie creators want to leave it to the viewers' perspective.

I have seen this movie before the parent series too. I also felt that something was missing. So I watched the two seasons and I got a clarification of what happened in the flash backs of the movie. It really explains how Nozomi left and how Mizore feels. And how they got to be as the beginning of the movie.

I will say that its more of an interpretation like the second person posted. I would recommend you to watch Hibike! Euphonium.

You absolutely should watch Hibike before watching this film.
Also they're just friends sadly. Hibike is known for Yuri bait as a franchise lol.

I know Sound Euphonium is known for yuribait but honestly there's absolutely no way that they didn't love each other. I haven't seen SE yet but it seemed very obvious that Mizore and Nozomi had feelings for each other. Since there's no male love interest I see no reason that they don't have feelings for each other aside from "the series has done it before!!!!"

I feel like Mizore had more admiration type of love toward Nozomi. It grows into obsession at times, so not like pure love (?). I saw this movie first and then had to watch the original show. You won't fully understand their relationship if you don't watch the tv one ig.

Why did you watched this movie before even watching the main anime? Don't make too much sense, lol
And, yes, you are wrong, Hibike Euphonium is known to be a huge yuri bait. But it's still a good anime, you should watch it. This movie is better, though

For me this story felt more like a friendship love (which I find to be rarer and rarer these days) rather then romantic love if you have seen the parent series. Stand alone I can understand why some might view it as yuri, however their relationship is shown in the second season as one of strong childhood long friendship. I love this movie, it reminded me of just how much affection and love one can show to a close friend. I know this gets thrown around in anime a lot but this movie is easily BEST (and most moving) representation of true friendship in its purest and rawest form in all of animation history and quite easily one of it not the best in modern entertainment.

I haven’t watched the original anime either, but as a lesbian, I thought Mizore was undoubtedly in love with Nozomi. I love stories that focus on friendship and believe they have just as much value as stories about romance, however the relationship between Mizore and Nozomi is definitely more than friendship.

Would you tell your friends you love them? Sure, that could be platonic. But whispering you love their hair, laugh, footsteps, everything about them while you tenderly hug? That sounds like more than friendship.

Besides that, the younger girl talking about her date where she and the boy went to see blowfish is clearly a parallel to Nozomi and Mizore- Mizore asks Nozomi to feed the blowfish with her and, during the scene where the the younger girl is talking Nozomi stares at Mizore the whole time.

I don’t have any specific examples for this but the way the camera angles, music and lighting are done are also typical of romance anime. It definitely gives the anime a romantic feel.

If you look online, many other LGBTQIA+ people also identify with this film, so it’s definitely clear enough to be obvious to multiple people. Personally, I think this is a romance.

While your points do make sense but kyoani is an exception to this. You could be seeing two girls kissing each other in a scene and kyoani would pull 'but it was just friendship' card in the next one.
