I'm curious to see what the next chapter will entail. I imagine it'll be focused primarily on Itsuomi and Yuki's date together. Knowing Yuki, she'll probably pick a place that Itsuomi will enjoy. I wonder if they have World Cultures fairs or international food stands in the Spring/Summer like they do where I live. I think they would both enjoy that. Or something as simple as a walk on the beach at night would be nice too. So far, Yubisaki to Renren isn't that cliched compared to other shoujo manga, so I'm looking forward to how things are gonna work out.
I agree with everything you wrote. Yuki's finally acknowledging that she knows very little about him despite having "known" him since childhood and he's becoming self-aware enough to declare out loud that he wants to be more honest. Though, of course, Yuki has no idea what he's talking about (again, she doesn't know him that well) and so assumes he's had a falling out with a friend at school. I also noticed that while she hopes he doesn't brood about it too much, she doesn't take it upon herself to try and be the one to help him, which would have the cliched route the chapter COULD have taken, but didn't, thank goodness. Let that boy figure himself out and you do you, Yuki! LOL
I'm glad we're finally making progress on the Emma/Shin front. I'm actually not surprised by her reaction to Itsuomi having a girlfriend. After all, the big shock for her was Yuki leaving his apartment in a previous chapter. Maybe she was already waiting for the other shoe to drop and so wasn't surprised to hear the news. Wasn't it mentioned in the past that she'd already stopped contacting him?
And I'm so happy that we FINALLY got a another cute moment between Yuki and Itsuomi, brief though it was! I swear, I've been going through withdrawals! LOL They didn't interact at all in chapter 17 (though I loved that we learned just how serious Itsuomi is about her). Chapter 18 had a brief moment where he encouraged her, but it wasn't particularly romantic. So them finally talking about something relationship-related again gave me the hit I needed! And the possibility that we might get an romance-dedicated chapter next time gives me something to look forward to (can we get another kiss, please??).
Considering it'll probably be the final chapter in what'll become volume 5, it desperately needs some kind of relationship progress between the two of them and it would be the perfect way to end an otherwise conflict-focused volume. I miss the days when the series focused on Yuki/Itsuomi and Rin/Kyouya. It felt so much more cozy back then!
Some predictions I have for the future:
1.) I think Yuki will eventually trust Itsuomi enough to speak in front of him. She can do it, but she's self-conscious about her voice. However, him telling her he thought her laugh was cute in a previous chapter as well her frustration over not being able to communicate well in the dark in this chapter might just lead her to dropping her guard. Though, I mean, they could have just whipped out their phones to talk, but whatever. LOL I'd just love for her to have the confidence to use her voice if she wants/needs to.
2.) I think that Yuki's first trip abroad might be to Germany to meet Itsuomi's family, and his best friend there. I wonder if the thing he wanted to talk to her about in this chapter had something to do with that? Or if not Germany, then maybe travel plans in general. Germany just seems like the most relevant place for them to go, plot-wise. |
