Oh man, what a drastic change... I know for a fact I'm not the only person who was seriously weirded/creeped out by Aya's drastic character shift. Like sure, I get that this is her "true self" now that she's not in an abusive household and can make decisions for herself. BUT STILL! She's 8 years old and dressing like a 20 year old sorority sister... Also I just really don't like the direction they're going with her whole "I've just declared myself the girlfriend of MC, and they're too dense to fully understand what they've agreed to!" trope. Clingy and possessive types are never a good sign, and it's even worse when they're eight years old and more knowledgeable about romance than the 13(?) y/o they're trying to court. Of course, I must recognize that I'm biased because I think Kabane and Kon are cute together, (they're both kinda clueless, but still like hanging out together), but I just don't like that Aya's defining character traits so far are, "I'm opening a clinic and acting more responsible than my brother because *someone* has to pay the bills around here" and "I'm immediately in love with MC, and that means that I have to be around him at every waking moment because I just WUV HIM SO MUCH!"

Ugh, I don't know, this may come off as a rant post, but I just wanted to gauge general reactions from other people.

I honestly like her personality bc we haven’t seen a big out going personality like hers yet and it’s a nice add. I think it’s cute how she kind of pushes kabane over. Usually this is a type of character I would really not like but she’s okay in my opinion

i have not watched this episode, but i desliked her look&personality in the manga. I just thought she was anoying and that is a bad way to dress when you are only 8

I hated how she was dressed she was kinda of annoying and 99% of the time I dislike loli characters in a show so it's a no for me

As a manga reader I don’t mind her character. I’m not her #1 fan but I like what she adds to the story over time. She is a pretty annoying and weird character at first tho in the manga and anime imo but I think as we see more about her it gets better.

I also haven't seen the episode yet but I didn't like her in the manga, especially the way she acted around Kabane it was always really weird to me considering how young both of them are.

Luckily

None of 4 poll options match my opinion well. I don't love the direction of Aya's character development. I don't hate her. Yeah, she's 8 with a crush on a 14 year old. Honestly, their 'romantic' relationship doesn't seem like it will go anywhere as they are so young, and have no personal connection. As for the way Aya dresses, I don't have a problem. She can dress how she wants. It doesn't matter.
Ryuk is somewhat relatable

I definitely agree with you. I just can't seem to like her, she's annoying and her attitude is horrible. Her style is really badass, but not for an 8 year old. I just love Kon more.

I mean she grew up without a mother guiding what's right or wrong, her uncle doesn't care aside from her golden thread so I guess that's her way of expressing what a cool outfit is like(based on the little info about her in manga) as for personality, yes I think that's more of her real self suppressed from years of being with an abusive adult. The whole girlfriend schtick will be more of a comic relief rather than something that needs to be taken seriously, seeing just how Shiki reacts.

Her personality change and style can be explained if you think that in some clinic there's those gossip magazines.
Her new look confused me a little, making me thinking that Aya was Krul Tepes, for a sec.

I didn't like his designer very much but that's okay, his personality, well ... there's a very expressive change in the anime but I think it's okay because he's a child and changes his personality I don't know what to do thinking about it will still depend of the story, but so far I don’t like it very much, it’s typically cute and it looks like it’s going to be boring and it’s going to start a drama and it’s going to bring a lot of problems need it so i'll keep an eye on this girl; ----;

Personally I'm kind of uncomfortable with the design. I don't think an 8 year old would/should wear such an outfit. (And I was an 8 y.o. girl once jsyk)I feel like her outfit is trying to code her as older than she actually is. Which I know is common in actual survivors in real life (that they act and dress older than they are) but still... On the other hand her previous outfit made her look like a 4 year old so that wasn't the best one either. If only they'd given her an actual shirt and got rid of the collar I feel it'd be more appropriate.

Can't really say anything about her personality yet as I want to see that develop more but the random declaration of 'i'm your girlfriend now ' is not something I like.

(Reminder: these are my personal feelings and I am NOT sexualising this character, but this outfit is gonna make it Hella easy for creeps to do so :'( ...

First she was a kind cute Sister. Now she became an annoying character who creeps me out whenever she is on screen. And why did her mother even bother to go to all this trouble she could just start a cloth business using her webs.

Her character change was suprising. Just like she was extrovert hidden in fake introvert skin, that poped out later to free the extrovert.
She is 8 years old, but now act like at least 12 and wear clothes like... idk who.
Maby sth changed, but do 8 yo girls realy think about dates or having a husband?
I get that she may think of Kabane as her saviour/ prince, but... he is too old for her tbh XD I think it was too sudden change (and it wasnt nice to see Kon cry and out of control again, but i can say Shiki's reactions were funny, he seemed to be more worried about vision of Kabane in his family than his sister behaviour and poor Kabane dont understand anything, he trys to be nice, but is too honest sometimes.)

After watching the first couple of episodes, I honestly thought that Kemono Jihen was going to go shonen ai. Not that I wanted it to, but it looked like it was heading in that direction. So I couldn't help but laugh when they gave the 8 year old loli they just introduced the skimpiest outfit of any character in the show.

Personality wise, I like her character. She is funny and, as others have mentioned, she adds something new to the main cast. I can see her shtick getting tired real fast though. Still, she helped push the HMS Konbane along by making Kon jealous and forcing her to think about her feelings. I too am riding on that ship.

So I like Aya's personality. I just wish they gave her a full shirt.

I mean, I appreciate dropping the self-pitying and demeaning demeanor since it was super painful to watch, but this change definitely feels way too out of left field. I understand she's the golden silk but she's still 8(?), so far as I understand it the thread doesn't turn you into a genius so her being more than abnormally intelligent for her age feels unnatural as hell.

I'm not against her having a crush on Kabane-kun, but it feels way more like Inari-sama's approach as opposed to having a precocious little crush.

Shounen Ai LMAO. It is not even romance. Where the hell did that came from?

LOL. Decades of watching anime has made me cautious when I run into certain things in a new show. With Kemono Jihen, the first episode has a grown man take interest in a young boy who has his shirt off more often than not (and who keeps taking his shirt off throughout the series). Very sus. Akira didn't help either.

So, the first few episodes had me suspicious of this shows direction. But, like you said, the show ended up not pursuing any serious romance. It still made the whole lewded loli thing that much funnier in my mind though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I dislike her new outfit, it's too open for an 8 year old. Her behavior is more understanding, we could see glimpses of her true character while she was under stress. What I don't like is how the sibling bond was threw away even though Aya was excited and afraid to be a family with her brother but now she is typical 'annoyed at her stupid older brother' little sister, with sudden love and attachment for MC. While she is 8. Kids crushes is a thing, but she behaves like a fully grown teenage girl which is eww.

I hated it when it happened in the manga and I don't like it here either. An eight year old shouldn't be dressing like that. Thankfully, as someone said above, she doesn't show up much. She's an interesting character, but her outfit is too male gazey for my liking.
