Yup, there's Keiichi telling it as it is. This episode wasn't too dark but it did highlight a lot of his personality to the audience. I do like how he wants to help Saotoko as both a classmate and friend.

Oh and can't forget about the rest of the cast. Rena, Mion, etc are also all there to get their point across. Rena's face is especially hard to forget this episode :o

The reason they didn't save Satoko was a lack of visual evidence, I saw something boring but I appreciate their efforts to save Satoko. just like Rika who has high hopes for this destiny, I like that Rika and Keiichi scene.

Nice early scene, i mean those chair scene.

I love how everyone’s working together to save Satoko. People going off and doing their own individual thing is how everything fell apart in previous loops, so go have them unified from the jump is great. Even sensei is onboard with the plan.

Nice setup episode, loved the Shion and Keiichi chair scene and the whole class squadded up at CWS lol. Excited for next week.

Really nice to see Keichii and most people from the school trying to save Satoko from her uncle...but well it's Higurashi so we already know what to expect next.
Can't wait to see the next episode.

Great speech by Keiichi in this episode, and I'm glad Chie-sensei also offer herself to help with it. Solid union by the whole squad, Satoko is truly blessed.

Satoko, I feel your pain at the very beginning. But your facade definitely draws the attention away.

The usual Hinamizawa crew sure has a huge problem on their hands, but without concrete evidence, they can't end Satoko's horror of her uncle Teppei. Even Shion stepping in for intermediaries sure doesn't help solve this case one damn bit, and Keiichi showing some manhood in his character is a definite plus. Hope restored without the thrill of killing someone, it can be done.

What a waste for Keiichi and Co. to go directly and spit the truth to the Child Welfare Services center, whatever it is, everything goes through black and white of legal and confidential means, and that is effectively a red flag of fighting a losing battle. This is more evident by the fact that Rika requests Keiichi to change her "fate" for the better.

BUT REMEMBER, this IS Tataridamashi (a.k.a Curse Deception) we're talking about here. Even with the entire class riled up by Keiichi's efforts (along with Chie-sensei) to save Satoko from further harm, and the CWS center's higher-ups revealing contradicting infodump that doesn't favour the young ones' ideals, they can only take matters into their own hands.

Even with the rescue "mission" of Satoko underway, I can't help but shake the feeling that something bad is gonna happen in the next episode of this heavy arc next week (of which there are 5 this time).

A low mellow "calm before the storm" episode.

Child Welfare Services Center is useless, a total waste of tax money.

Satoko is truly blessed with her friend. All of her classmates and her teacher really want to rescue her. She deserves to live in a better and happier place.

OH MY GOD!

Tataridamashi = Tatarigoroshi + Minagoroshi + GOU

Icy fear gripped my back! The level of promlems from Minagoroshi, but situation from Tatarigoroshi.

In Minagoroshi, the guys won mainly because of Ooishi's help. But in Tatarigoroshi - Ooishi is the evil enemy. Worse, the most evil and unfair of all Ooishi!

NO NO NO NO!

Remember my words - it will be the most desperate and heaviest arc even by OG standards.

I honestly can't tell what's going to happen the rest of this arc - I love it!
How everyone banded together was such a neat change from Tatarigoroshi. I liked how Keichii started talking about the other world and such, I wonder if more of them will do that. I have no doubt there will be a dark turn, though.

Child welfare service can't do jack shit, they expect an abused child to confess that she's being abused infront of the abuser and such. Now it's all upto Maebara Keichi the man to solve this problem.

Add:
K1 never met Kameda - therefore, he will not be able to enlist his support.
K1 is not the host of the show at the festival, so he will not be able to meet with the village elders and Sonozaki Oryo. Namely, Oryo, spoke to the mayor and called her influential relatives, thereby providing decisive assistance in saving Satoko.

In episode 4, friends will be defeated, and in episode 5 everything will return to the decision of Tatarigoroshi and Shion.

Alright I can already sense the steam of spoilers from above & below my post, but I wouldn't mind more than that. The Tataridamashi arc continues as our main cast struggles to shine light on Satoko's cruel situation. Shion going wrath mode on the Five really tells how she is serious to save Satoko.

Looks like these CWS officials wouldn't give a damn on their protest, even when the whole class and Chie-sensei being there to confront them. That Keiichi speech in the class was really good and Rika is inspired in his approach (well for Satoko's sake and other reasons).

So it looks like they're going to take this issue with their own hands. I don't want them to go violent but this is Higurashi so I don't expect a 100% peaceful resolution, so be ready. Also Rika's face at the end about that destiny thing....atleast I know what's up with that. And I guess Oishi will definitely be one of the obstacles in this arc. Nice episode we got here, now I'm going to watch the 2006 version of this episode.

Interesting, this chapter is not much like Tatarigoroshi, but more

I loved Rika and Keiichi scene, and Rika's scenes this time generally. She has hope. Keiichi is also at his best, and I had a feeling he would be, considering

Anyway, curious to see what will go wrong this time.
Btw, I absolutely hated that woman at CWS, I understand why Shion started yelling (though it's definitely bad for their case).

This series is in a weird spot with spoilers since it's a remake like how the new FF7 is a remake. It is kinda messed up to be talking about the answer arcs though.

It still freaks me out when Rika puts on her serious, deep voice. They are all just used to that adult voice? lol. Also, once again it comes to the question, how much can Rika intervene? Because those words about fate make it seem as if she is aware of everything but for some reason she stands aside and lets things flow and let Keiichi be the protagonist.

Speaking of Keiichi, I really liked him in this episode, not to mention Shion. That confrontation between them at the beginning was quite tense.

With that said... FUCK CWS!

Hold up, this isn't the Tatarigoroshi senario any more, this is Minagoroshi.

That being said, there isn't much of a difference between Minagoroshi and this episode, so not many comments for this episode.

Also, in terms of pacing and how much information there was, this is by far the best episode so far.

but I just have the feeling that something really bad will happen in the next two episodes, all this wholesome villagers colab gives the vibe that we will have a mass murder of some sorts...

Rika is 11 years old. Not 7-8. Satoko is also between the 11-12 age range. (Satoko's birthday is in june.) As for why no one notices it... they do notice it, they just don't comment on it. They most likely view it as Rika being serious and that her normal way of speaking and acting is partially a facade.

I'm actually really enjoying this arc, even though it has the pet peeve of officials being like "Why won't the abuse victim admit they're being abused when they're in the same vicinity as their abuser" trope.

I know if they used common sense the arc would end early but Christ in a handbasket if it isn't something used very often for these scenarios of trying to catch an abuser.

Interested how this is going to end though, considering of course, this is called the "Curse deceiving" chapter if I recall right. Honestly I hope they scare him right out of the village again, hoping for that miracle.

Rika's conduct has been incredibly frustrating after that scene at the beginning of Ep. 2, I'm not really sure R07 is going to justify that.

It's not really a trope here. CWS can't find any physical evidence on the abuse, so if the victim at least confessed, they'd have a leg to stand on to force an investigation and probably further actions.

If even the victim doesn't give them a hand and there's no physical proof of abuse, their hands are legally tied. Any action against the uncle wouldn't stand in a legal court if sued, and that's assuming an action would be authorized with this total lack of evidence in the first place.

Unless the uncle slips up and leaves a mark on Satoko's body, It sucks, but Satoko is the only one who can save herself from that situation.

CWS is just garbage omegalul. The plan to rescue Satoko is under way now! Another kinda chill episode as well, just like the last 2 episodes. Now we just have to wait and see how this plan will go. Shion on the other hand, her fucked up nature is finally showing up xd She almost flipped the switch several times with some savage words ahah. And it also seems like Keiichi is feeling confident about this, after Rika's words by the end of the episode. Waiting for next week c:

compared to the original this show feels almost innocent. Its nice not beeing as straight forward as the OG to keep the suspense but considering Higurashi is kinda hardcore this is way too tame.

Far more interestingly for me, Shion appeared and went crazy to the point where she even hit MC kun. And Rika seems to be more actively trying to change the fate than she used to. Which is a win compared to her overly passive behaviour before.

Kudos to the people who manage to keep up with all the small Arcs and spot the differences immediately though. I dont even remember 90% of what happened in the original
