| It was thanks to Capcom re-releasing all 10 Mega Man Battle Network games onto the Nintendo Switch this year that I rediscovered this anime. About 12+ years ago CN premiered what I had thought was a movie (it was a "special") that aired and I missed most of it only seeing somewhere near the beginning and the very end while waiting to watch Naruto. When I asked around years later people said it sounded like a Megaman anime (didn't say which incarnation) Looking around with the information I had all I found was Battle Network, I then searched for a Battle Network movie but came up empty handed on what I had remembered (the Electric twins and fire bull as I called them at the time lmao). Ended up watching the full first season of NT instead and gave up the search there. All these years later and the Battle Network games re-releasing has lit this old dormant memory and so I went digging again and came across this show quite easily and sure enough it was what I was looking for back when I was still a kid. I am surprised how controversial this show turned out to be within the Megaman fanbase, honestly relooking at it as an adult after only seeing about a mix of about maybe 30 minutes of the "2 hour" special all those years ago, and now looking at the show for the first time officially and watching through the available dubbed episodes, I have to say, the story is still not all that bad to me. I actually feel like I enjoy it more than I did back then. Sure I can call out all the plot points and outcomes while watching before they even appear on screen but that is to be expected of such an old kid's show and me being an adult. That aside I am quite enjoying myself and have even began to watch the sub. I will agree the show is definitely not for everyone. And while I have only played, maybe, 1 Megaman game in the past.. And so can't be counted as a fan in that aspect, I still find this show quite entertaining. It has been added as one of my anime guilty pleasures. |
