| I have recently read the Manga "Bikkuriman 2000" which has four volumes. It tells the story of the fighting angel Takeru, who is tasked with finding the Jikairan (Next World Egg) to save the world. There is a surprising and very drastic change in drawing style, but also in story telling over the course of this manga series. It is so drastic, that I was surprised to see, that the author did not change at any point. While the first volume is clearly a gag manga, the third and fourth are typical (younger audience) fighting shounen. The overall story is extremely generic, but some quirky designs and good gags in the earlier parts make this worth reading, if you like both mediocre gag manga and generic (but epic) world saving story. I have not watched the anime of the same name. Do you know both? How would you compare them? Have you read other manga series with such a change in style, while having the same author all the time? |
