THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
DO NOT QUOTE THIS ENTIRE POST IN A REPLY LIKE THAT ONE GUY DID LAST TIME, THAT WAS NOT COOL well at least I have a lot less to write this time, since the setup was pretty much all dealt with in episode 2.

Following the delays of a week on ep 1 and over a week on ep 2, Crunchyroll actually put this up the same day as it came out in Japan, August 28th. Much appreciated.

Lightsaber vs. Borg cube is a pretty good way to start

Turns out he was shrinking it into one of those dimensional traps from Kado: The Right Answer

Cabbit family reunion!

Sasami looks like she might be the biggest woman at the table now.

Well, Tsunami was pretty tall.

Oh really, you think?

The new character I was most looking forward to seeing in this episode was the doctor, Miron Pham. It's too bad that we only get these lines and a failed attempt; I'd prefer to see her succeed >_>

Earth is in safe hands

ara denied

Banjo Island / Tabletop Island is a lot bigger, and has more non-mountainous land, than I thought. Looks good.

It has a little plateau, but it looks like that "table" is mostly covered by a higher mountain, so I don't really get the name, but whatever.

I thought Paradise War's "survivalist lifestyle" implied some kind of Swiss Family Robinson setting, so I'm surprised to see that everyone's living in another roomy mansion. Was that a later addition? Given the competitive setup, I'm also surprised that Shou's harem seems to be getting along with one another as well as Tenchi's or Seina's did in their early days, but I guess I shouldn't be.

Blessed shota Kenshi.

Scenes like this remind me of an old ad for The Sims 1 in a gaming magazine (hey, this is a Tenchi thread, let's boomer it up). Turns out some eBay sellers are offering it as a "2002 Vintage Advertisement" (one shows it already framed).

Is there a book reason why D would be the only one not to revert to her original cabbit form by the following morning?

Also wondering about this:

Seina looking manlier than Tenchi LOL.

It only recently occurred to me that Seina might be using Juraiian tech to make himself look older as "Minamida," as the still absent Yosho does. Is he? Or... is Tenchi's eternal youth already making him look younger than Seina?

aNiMaTiOn BuDgEt

...is this happening!?

HE - HAS - DONE IT
OHHHH WHAT A FINISH

SALUTE to this series, one of the first harem anime, often cited as the show that popularized the genre, for TWENTY-EIGHT YEARS after it started coming out, finally reaching the same conclusion Isekai Smartphone did within a single cour. AMAZING.

I always thought the name of the "Tenchi Solution" trope was weird, given the state of the anime. Now, at last, it makes sense even if you don't read the books. Though I guess most of my fellow anime-onlies aren't cool enough to make it this far, eh. 8)

I have no problem thinking Seina has become jacked. These guys are firmly in their twenties, (although presumably age-frozen around now), Seina has multiple body enhancements. and now that the Renza arc has gotten going in the novels you also find that he basically gains magical abilities, enchantment enhancements, and while stranded on a magical world has to join a guild to fight magical beasts. The novels also make it plain that, despite his look in the anime, his life of dodging the effects of his bad luck has unconsciously trained his body to be extremely reactive. He's at the point where he can predict and purposely trigger landsides and sinkholes to catch his enemies while he jumps around on the detritus produced and comes out basically unharmed.
Despite his initial sadsack persona, when you read the novels you realize he is a Huuuuge stud.
With a HUUUUUUUUUGE... magical organ.

...and a really big dick- seriously, when he gets in one of those embarrassing naked situations and he gets excited, the girls around are shocked, I believe at least one was scared.

...except in the most recent one, he ends up in a coed hot springs bath and everyone instead notices his scars and that he has the body of a warrior (or something like that- the only translation currently is a gibberish filled machine translation that only lets you figure out the general details).

Cool, thanks. It's the contrast between Seina and Tenchi that strikes me :P I guess before this season started I was hoping to see Tenchi look older like that too, so it's kind of disappointing that he's stuck looking like a teenager forever.

Tenchi anime did have sort of a slant toward older woman / young boy pairings from the start with Ryoko, but that element was stronger in GXP, with its main harem of 1) childhood "big sister" next door, 2) teacher, 3) adult space pirate, 4) ancient priestess (though disguised as loli). I remember this recent comment on GXP as a whole:

pros: strong straight shota energy(...)

So it's somewhat ironic that Seina ends up looking like a 30-year-old chad, but that's totally fine with me. Straight shota is good, but I'd like to see more anime milfs paired with older men.

Ah yeah, Ippo's elephant dick, so embarrassing. Poor overendowed guys.

I guess you could say each person stops their age and appearance where they might prefer. Or maybe where Tenchi prefers.

Washu has discovered that Tenchi has actually, somewhat unconsciously, given immortality to all that he really cares for, beyond even their own body enhancements. That includes his entire harem and Seina, whom he considers as a kind of brother and is very protective of.

But I just think of Tenchi as having a natural caring baby face. I swear, my best friend from High School still looks like he could be 18 (we're in our 40's now).

Trying to keep up with the characters and their position in the series is a little confusing, but it's still good to watch.
