just watched episode 7 I’m very confused what was going on, and what happened at the end. Who did he call?

someone correct me if I'm wrong but at the end he called one of the higher ups of the police department which was his wife's dad. So he might have had something to do with Imura ( i think thats her name) 's murder or the missing key because his father in law forced him or something . Things are getting pretty interesting
