Apparently a practice that is done at a level that we can never know within horse racing, the swapping of a horse, was done here. And it was no underdog, it was actually one of the greatest. Gin obtained the horse by borrowing from the United Arab Emirates through personal connections and this struck the blind spot of power beyond Kono’s limits, "like a frog in a well". Gosh I love that line, Gin did the Dracule Mihawk on him! Bleeding from this, the jockeys involved were not ready to anticipate a horse as powerful as Lammtarr, their souls cannot be bought, and they have their own sense of pride. They will lose motivation and are not ready to defeat such a beast. The reason I am completely summarizing is because this is just super freaking badass. I thought it was a very very charming turn of events. I never know how much to trust Gin, he keeps his cards close to the chest, even now he could be lying or abstaining about some aspects, but for now I'll take him for what he said. With that, we have a comeback, the true moment, make it or break it, is among us! I will say, there are times where Gin achieved victory when it wasn't guaranteed, as far as I remember the Kuramae win was explicitly like this. And I'm assuming this case will also be akin to this. But a part of me wishes we had seen him lose, the way I imagine Gin doing so is with a chilling sense of peace. It would show that he is human after all, and as long as he does perform the Hirai way, he'll be content. The fact that I can imagine that means that it's probably too simple and it could be a lot more complex, but it’s still an avenue I would have liked, or would like to see. |
