“This isn’t betrayal. It’s wisdom.” With that awesome line and some unease about the events that have been going on, Morita decided to move on his own. This was intelligent because, as we saw, Hidemine manipulated his peers and despite doing so things have still gone very wrong!

Honestly, when we introduced a masked killer I have chopped this character up to be a character we didn't know yet had close ties with the family so that there could be a shocking reveal for them, but not necessarily for us. I'm sure that there are many readers who knew who this masked killer was before it was revealed, because when it was revealed, everything became absolutely clear; so obvious I was slightly mad I didn’t give it enough thought. This was not just a twist for the characters, but a reveal for us as the audience as well. From the very introduction, the youngest son Katsuhiro has had a presence. He was revealed to us as the nobody of the family in the profiling, later we had the other brothers form an alliance to benefit all of them but left him out, and finally Hidemine refuses to even consider him as the next patriarch. He has been a festering and boiling presence this entire time, so for him to be enacting his revenge, the fourth brother usurping the other brothers who were usurping their father, it all makes so much sense. When the brothers mentioned their goal in killing Hidemine I even suggested that they could appear as bad as their father just in regards to their youngest brother instead. Obviously he felt the same way!!

After discarding the other two candidates and using them as pawns, Hidemine stated that he had in fact already determined moustache was the next patriarch! He had proven himself tonight. As if to symbolically express this, he even let his moustached son step on his back while reaching for the bow, a literal representation of consensually rising above. I'm not exactly sure how he feels about that, and after getting to understand the infrastructure and decay of this family so well, I realized I was actually incredibly engaged, I want to know how this will pan out for them. This is furthered by the small things, falling in love with Hidemine, humanizing and exploring the different dynamics of each brother, simply being with them for such a long time. I think that's super radical!!

Lastly, I have no good reason to suggest such a thing, honestly none at all, put a thought struck me that if somehow Gin was aware of the events that were going to occur tonight, or if he is the one that's on the phone with Katsuhiro for instance, orchestrating this in some way, it would be such a betrayal of our trust in him and, although like I said there's no reason to think this, the effectiveness of how much it would hurt forces me to play with the thought. Like honestly, the person that's cooperating with Katsuhiro could be anyone that wants in on his usurping plot for power and cash, lololol.
