| THIS IS A MANGA ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER. ---------------------------------------- I feel like I'm going to throw up out of tension and excitement. The start of this chapter was the epitome of the kind of battle system that I described in my last post. By having Morita wait as a sitting duck and rely on his enemies falling for his trick was messed up, only being saved by a lucky streak. The third son waking up and making noise, and then the elevator going off! He was dead if not for those two chance encounters, it speaks to how many possibilities there are in a scuffle like this. So already we have this incredibly tense moment, and then what followed was the part in which I felt I was going to throw up while reading. After Morita’s fear sunk in on a level which is quite rare for him, the situation seemed to parallel some of his previous encounters with death which prepared them for this moment. The first that struck my mind was the fight with Aiga, where if he had ran for his life, if he had tried to escape, he would have died, the answer was to fight. Not unlike this encounter. The other parallel was expressed with the illusion of Gin telling Morita to die. He has already been in a situation where he had to be ready to stab his own heart to truly challenge Kuramae, the only way to win was to embrace his own death. Now he must do the same thing. How? By walking directly towards a man with a gun who, if seen, will kill him. Each step full of resolve as he walked towards his death, resolved to die standing proud without cowering. Phew,,,,, That is powerful imagery! Seriously powerful imagery!!!! In a way I think this is the perfect example of the kind of man Gin has turned Morita into. Although he had a moment of fearing for his life, he was able to regain composure, embrace his death, and if he died; he put faith in Gin to get revenge. Bruh…. Seeing him able to smile while walking down that dark hallway shows the monster he has become. |
