So this just little neat information that I want to bring up. Many people say BNA lack in the deepness other Trigger shows have, I think this is true to an extent, because most of the series falls flat in execution, but I think there are some symbolisms in the designs of the characters. By that I mean the animal they represent and the charactericts this conveys.
The coolest of which is the main character Michiru and opposing character of her (not quite the antagonist) Nazuna. Both were friend that are now split, pretty cliche I know.
The interesting part comes in the animals they are. A tanuki and a kitsune, the mythical type not a fox and racoondog. In japanese folklore both probably come from the same chinese folkore, have similar abilities but as time went on their paths split and they were considered to be enemies.
This matches up perfectly with the characters. They are from the same background, posses the same abilities and consider themself opposing characters. The antagonist is a reflection of the protagonist and I think with the animals chosen it couldn´t have been better.
I´m just sad that the show is just fun and easy to consume anime, instead of developing the symbolism a little bit further.

PS: I still like a show more than most and think should be more love for it. The designs are great, the colors are amazing, and the animation is good. Just the writing needed more developing time. So if you check my profile (for some reason), the nine points, come because I really like the art, even if a seven would be more fitting

I'm surprised people didn't see this.....the show has very obvious racial symbolism, and themes that connect to racism and its role in society....anyone who says this show isn't as thematic as most Trigger shows must not have payed attention......

They just say this because BNA is more grounded than other Trigger shows, taking place in a world that is relatively anachronistic to our own, rather than say, the dystopian world in Kill la Kill or Darling in the Franxx
Phosphophyllite is best gem
