Do you like her as a character?

Wanted to know what others watching think...

I'm 9 episodes into the series, and there is a lot to like about the series. But I just can't get over the fact that the MC shows absolutely no development throughout the series! Sure, she's a teen so getting worked up and being stubborn is to be expected, but I was hoping for some improvement in later episodes...

I mean, this is an anime original, you can't say that there's gonna be development later on in the source material... she constantly gets in the way of the people she's supposed to be helping, sticks her nose where it doesn't belong and just comes off as some brat.

TL;DR: I hate her, but like the anime in general. What do you people think?

If I were to use food to describe her personality then she's as bland as a communion wafer that was fed to a child for the first time.

I think the anime was good only in the first part, after episode 7 turns into something cringe, boring and bad with a lot of plot convenience(like the episode that the mc learns how to fly just because she wanted)

I'm gonna be spoilersing down here but really wanted to get this off my chest

Plot armour aside (I'm not the type to care about those kind of things) there were a few things about michiru's character that aggravated me so much I almost threw my laptop.
Most notably, her inability to think critically even a little bit. The scene where shirou finds out that Alan plans to medically turn the entire beastman race to humans and he gets understandably upset -- and she has the audacity to get mad at him for this ? Girl??? A big pharma exec literally just said he was going to essentially pull eugenics, to your friend who has spent a Millenia fighting oppression, but yeah I mean he's probably overreacting right ???? Ugh

I know that she eventually comes around but throughout the entire show she just continues this cycle of acting without thinking at all. Nazuna is right that michiru just superimposes her own instant sense of justice onto situations without even TRYING to figure out what's going on.

I'll allow that her gut instincts to protect nazuna from a shady situation were on point but then again. Does nazuna really need protection? She's cunning and manipulative, even when she was being used she still came out on top through manipulation (not ragging on her but she did kind of knowingly try to sell herelf as a god to the beastmen so..anyways I digress)

Even with michiru and shirou's first meeting, shirou is ganged up on by terrorists and michiru yells at him for that too. Like it's called self defense is he not supposed to break the legs of the people who opened fire at him? Like am I missing something ??

It's this attitude of spouting justice without any sort of actual moral code that irks me. She just assumes things and immediately starts screaming. And before anyone argues "she's just a teen" YEAH TEENS ACT OUT ALL THE TIME and I understand that but I've never met a teenager in my life as sanctimonious and righteous as michiru without possessing even a crumb of reason to back up her misguided rage.

Sorry for this I'll probably delete it I just am so haunted by michiru as a character and needed to blow off some steam. Thanks for listening ;;;;

Extremely annoying and dumb in most of the series but yes I still liked her. Also the anime's name refers to her and Nazuna imo. Since they are both kind of a new species.

I liked her at first, but became really disappointed in the lack of character development and I've grown tired of seeing the same type of character, the one that acts recklessly because justice, without even trying to understand the situation or just ignoring it. I know she's a teen and all but, damn she really acts dumb sometimes.
I wish her character was a little bit older and mature, or just mature to actually rationalize her actions.

I really liked her.

She is an idiot but she doesnt have any ill will towards anyone in the show. When she starts thinking she might be wrong about something she is open to change her mind about it but she also doesn't just blindly believe anything she is told if it doesn't make sense to her. If she thinks she is right about something important she will act on it without doubting herself even if she might be wrong.

To me that makes her an interesting main character.

im neutral but leaning towards liking her she keeps Ginro in check or in control and im not gonna be surprise if they ended up together when she becomes an adult

same thing with Nazuna i suppose even if Nazuna does not admit it or realize it

I hardly ever like a show but dislike the protagonist. Honestly I cannot even think of one example right now.

As I watch this show, I just keep wishing for Oogami to have been the main protagonist. I would have found that a lot more interesting.

I like her. She's flawed but realistic in that she's not just going to change like that. If you think people can change their ways like a switch you're as naive as she is.

Plus in Japanese folklore the tanuki have certain character traits: "The legendary tanuki is reputed to be mischievous and jolly, a master of disguise and shapeshifting, but somewhat gullible and absentminded. It is also a common theme in Japanese art, especially statuary."

The way Michiru gets herself into trouble and is easily misled can be a reflection of the tanuki's role in folklore, and while the kitsune can shapeshift in order to trick people (like Nazuna does), the tanuki does it just cos they like to, and has more ways of changing.
