Watched 1st ep, feel this could get extremely woke ("in association with Netflix" makes me even more worried) and don't wanna waste my time of this.
Does it get worse or is it worth to watch?

It does present some social issues that you can somewhat apply to the real world but I wouldn't call it "woke" (god I hate that word) like the average show on Netflix, give the first few episodes a try its really enjoyable if you like the characters.

Actually I lied the series is a furry propaganda in attempt normalize them in modern society.

It's not very woke. Maybe slightly more work than the standard anime, but significantly less woke than Carol and Tuesday or western cartoons.

The closest it gets to being woke is maybe that there's perhaps an undertone of vegan propaganda, but IMO, if that undertone exists the message is that veganism is a hypocritical/self-destructive philosophy.

Love it or hate it. This show is awesome in my opinion. I am glad that I found it and I'm almost through the first season.

Nah. There are certainly some ways you could take it that way though. There's a comparison of male sexual desire and the carnivores hunger for meat. And a potential message you could take out of it that men need to control their more aggressive urges. One could see some overlap with that and the idea of "toxic masculinity". But overall I don't think the show has any super overt "woke" messages. It's very much up for interpretation.

You could even interpret the show as glamorizing "power imbalance" romantic relationships which is very anti-woke.

^Someone has to be REALLY DEEP into that rabbit hole in order to interpret the show like that.

But to reiterate, no, Beastars doesn't hit you over the head with its themes and messages, and it doesn't tell you what you should believe, unlike a lot of contemporary Western entertainment.

"in association with Netflix" = "We bought the rights to put it on our website at least a season after its actual release lol". I've never been worried for Netflix having 'power' over the production or changing things for being too politically incorrect, because they can't. So worry not.

When it comes to the show, it may seem a little 'woke', but it's really not (and it doesn't try to be either). It's a must-watch

You seriously call it veganism just because animals don't eat each other? I haven't seen them eat their salads lately m8.

I agree the term's pretty dumb. There's a few of those words/phrases that kinda trigger me just seeing them. "Okay Boomer" is the latest one to make me want to smash my computer.
Lolicons are scum.
BABYMETAL is more metal than Metallica.
Naruto is objectively the best anime ever.
HxH 99' is decent. HxH 11' is bad.

This anime is not woke, nor is the manga. However, a lot of high-profile anitubers and other big personalities - who are woke - are seeing all sorts of things in it. How beastars is a social commentary and a reflection of a current society and so on. It's laughable.

To think that a japanese mangaka who lived her entire life in a japanese society, which don't have many of the contemporary issues of the western society, would make a setting that's an explorations of the said issues - is a top of entittlement and closemindedness.

And most of them didn't bothered reading manga, so it would be beyond amusing to see all of their conclusions and theories to be crushed in a future seasons. Or they just come up with even more crazier braintwisting, which should be no less entertaiming.

This anime - and by extension manga - have this strong stink of being woke thanks to all those i mentioned. It's the reason why i didn't watched it when it came out. But it's worth a watch, i assure you.

You must not have watched it because this is unambiguously a literal plot point, so IDK, maybe keep your ignorance to yourself? #getwokebl0ke

You do know you can have a preference and still not be vegan, right? Yeah, they’re called omnivores. There’s no proof out there saying the show expresses veganism.

Wait you think Carol and Tuesday is woke? In what way i don't want to fight or anything i want to hear why you think that. There are people that think China is "woke" so i would like to hear you definition because I notice One Piece is you fav anime and that is the king of wokeness but it is diffident than Carol and Tuesday.
