----------------------------------------
I fear that the last few times that he went on a rampage and beat random strangers up, weren't actually without consquences.. Or at least I can't imagine any other reason for why they would apprehend Nomiya at night all of a sudden.
This manga has gone on and on showing us how actions have consequences and how even the smallest interactions may impact someone else's life greatly...

The bit where Nomiya remembered his former declaration and met his child self were quite emotional.

I've always been waiting for him to become the Tigers' coach but where we're at currently in the story makes me think that Kiyo will aim for a solo career (potentially outside of Basketball, paralympics track and field seems more likely) and even though he desperately wishes for it, does Nomiya actually stand a chance at going pro?

I also really liked the bits on Takahashi and the dysmorphophobia he faces constantly but also how the friends he made at physical therapy continue to support him.

I wish we could've kept more focus on Kiyo, but then again, it's especially important to continue with Nomiya's development at this point.

That's what I love about this manga. It truly deserves the title Real.

Also the part where Takahashi trains for 5 months just to get adjusted to his wheelchair, before even touching a basket ball and then fails at the thirst attempt to throw a basket. There are no shortcuts to becoming good. Even though he used to be a great player, wheelchair basket ball is almost a whole new sport, and he has to learn from zero. I wonder if Takahashi will stick with it. The part where he thinks, his body is broken was hard to take. Does he really not want his driver take him to the training anymore? I wonder..

Really? Don't you wanna see more Takahashi / Shiratori / Hanasaki Stuff? These three together rock haha. I really hope we get to see their friendship evolve.

I find it really interesting how the Dreams team commended him for sticking with the basic chair skills training for five whole months without ever complaining.
While they view it as a sign of incredible perseverance and suspect a great resolution based on good judgement behind it, I couldn't help but see it both as a confirmation for the love he feels for this sport and actual fortitude;
but also as an attest to his desperation for wanting to escape feeling worthless and attempt at reclaiming his old identity as an above average sports ace.
The fact that he was able to endure all those months without actually playing with the ball itself, just illustrates how high his expectations for himself are (at least to me), and demonstrate just how much he tries to avoid the inevitable failure that will come with starting to play again.

It's kind of a contradiction but I believe that he was putting playing off because he knew he wouldn't be able to be as perfect as he would like to be.
He kept pouring so much effort into the basic skills because he wanted to be in the best state he could be for playing again, but also because he didn't want to be confronted and remain in his escapism fantasies of being great instantly.

That he tells his driver not to take him there anymore just seems like proof that he was immediately disappointed that he couldn't keep up with his self-expectations (which were too high in the first place!)
and it means so much to him, that he wants to opt out the easy way on first instinct...
(That's just my interpretation though)

Haha they do, you're quite right. I'm biased because Kiyo's my favorite of the three and I'm always afraid of another hiatus, so best get as much out of his story as possible :P(though I'd probably consider Takahashi to be the best written out of all of them and therefore also enjoy the focus on him).

Personally I want the focus to shift more on Hanasaki instead of Shiratori right now, I hope he'll provide further encouragement to Takahashi.

But after this chapter I definitely want to follow Nomiya right now (also I kind of miss Natsumi, wonder what she's been up to and whether her one-shots were successful in any way)

You really nailed it there. Good interpretation. I never thought of his postponing playing with the ball as some kind of escapism. But the way you describe it, it really makes sense. The way he daydreamed in episode 87 on how he tells everybody how he is the captain of his basketball team and that he never loses. Must be hard to be brought back to reality so brutally.

Yeah, it's too bad that fans have to worry about hiatus after every chapter.
On the other hand, I'd rather Takehiko Inoue take his time and work on his manga when is inspired, not out of pressure. The quality of his art and stories are the greatest reward for the wait.

I am rooting for Hanasaki as well. I believe he will play a big role in bringing Takahashi back to basketball. Hopefully they become friends :D But since this series title is „Real“, we can't expect a happy ending for everyone.

Me too! It's so rare that I care about almost every character in a manga.
What makes Kiyo your favorite? I like him too, just like Natsumi.
I like how Kiyo changed his goal, trying to aim for something he really wants, not something he feels obligated to do. There sure is a lot to explore in his storyline.
